from a personal point of view, and i know its bad customer service, but sales staff are so snowed under with hand-overs, and customers in the showroom that finding even 5mins to make a phone call is nigh on impossible some days

I know you shouldnt complain, the scrappage scheme has done what it intended to do, but when you are used to having time to gather your thoughts due to lack of customers, some staff are just not up to coping with the demands being put on them currently

I dont think you are being fobbed off, if they say the salesperson isnt around to give you an update. With the company i work for, unless you are a salesperson, then you are not allowed to give a customer any information pertaining to their deal, just incase you give conflicting information

i would say the best time to catch the salesperson, would be within the last half hour before closing

Well this is the thing, last time we called, we were told to ring back today to speak to the salesman who took our order. So we rang back today, only to be told he doesn't work on Tuesdays!

Appreciate what you're saying, but it's been five weeks since we ordered the car, and we have heard nothing at all in that time. For all we know, someone could have overlooked our order and it hasn't even been placed  I was just wondering if this is normal, or if we should have heard something by now?

i went through kia and didn't hear anything after order for about eleven weeks and that was only because i rang them, i was quoted possibly three to four months so i wasn't too worried in the end it took 14 weeks, when i did ring they were very helpfull tracking my order.

Crikey, all this lead time on new cars! I was told just 3 weeks for my iq3 (next monday), considering its not a high volume production car, have I been 'strung along' to seal the deal or does that sound right?

This has been exactly my worry! We went with Skoda because they said we would have a six week wait, and every other manufacturer we tried said 12 weeks (except Toyota). All along, I've been thinking, did they just say that to get the sale?!

I wouldn't worry too much about the iq though, Toyota were the only manufacturer who we could have got a car from sharpish (within a week for a Yaris) - but the available models just weren't roomy enough for my rather substantial OH.

the salesperson wont bother contacting a customer unless he has some news for them, as who wants to get an ear bashing, if you can avoid it

i would think, even if something had gone awry and your car hadnt been ordered, the fact you have rung a few times would give the salesman a nudge to pull his finger out, and he'd be trying every avenue, to find a vehicle that would more or less stick to the delivery schedule they gave, at time of order

i really think to put your mind at rest, you are going to have to go the dealership in person. ive always found saying you wanted to look at the 'accessory range' is a good enough ruse to draw them in, before you go in with the killer question about delivery
