Do you get any free car insurance with the new polo?
We tried to get a quote online for the new polo insurance just to get some idea of how much daughters insurance is going to go up by but it just keeps saying system error whenever we choose the car even though its in the list (churchill) We put Oct 16th for start date even though shes not going to get it for then but we just wanted to get some idea what it might be
With regards to buying British made cars with this scheme it would be great but unfortunately there were non that my daughter liked in the price range she could afford and the polo comes out very good in reviews compared to the uk manufactured ones in her price rangeThanx

Haven't yet worked out why more money would go to UK mechanics were I to scrap the 11 year old and get a new 'un. Currently my UK mechanic earns quite a bit keeping the old lady (the car that is) on the road. A new car would require much less repair work.0

All new cars get free insurance for a short while as this is needed for VW to tax the car, you will have to enter you cars details manually on comparison sites to get a quote as your registration wont appear on the registrar yet. Once you get a quote you will have to call them so they can input your cars registration in manually.0 -
Has she ordered one then LadyK?
With the Golf they gave me a number to ring for VW insurance which covered me for 7 days - they sent the cover note direct to the dealer by fax so they could tax the car for me. You may find that her insurance actually goes down. They seem to give lower quotes for a new car.
When you come to get insurance, do a comparison site then go to quidco to see if the best price insurer is one of their merchants. I got £60 cash back on More Than insurance.0 -
Yes she has ordered now, she did get a quote from a broker but then a local vw dealer agreed to match it even though he didnt see any proof of the brokers offer, in fact he undercut it by £20 odd pounds as I said I couldnt remember the exact quote. He said she was the very first to get a deal on that car as they were selling anyway and they had been told they could not do any deals on the new polo, he had to ask his boss
Her present insurance is with churchill, she only started a new year in September for her saxo mischief and paid the year in full so she thought she might be better off staying with them. It might go up because her saxo is less than a 1.1 its a 956 or something but if it does go down I hope they will refund her then? If there is a way around saving any money with her insurance though its worth looking into, she is a quidco member too but thought shed be stuck with her present insurer or can she move without losing what shes paid churchill?Thanx

You can move whenever you want, they will refund you but will charge an admin fee, churchill was 150 cheaper than any other for me so hopefully they will give ou a good quote too0 -
My Mum ordered an i10 at the beginning of August and has been told today she won't be getting it at all, as apparently the dealership can't get any more.
Something doesn't seem quite right about the whole thing, has anyone else had problems like this?0 -

I placed an order for an i10 classic with metalic paint on 5/08/09 and took delivery on 1/10/09. I could have had it a week earlier as I was told it was there on 23/09/09. This sounds to me as if the dealership has messed up - possibly had it's franchise removed||? My dealer is still ordering. Suggest she tries another dealer.
It is a great little car :j :j :jMurphy was an optimist!!!0 -

dealers usually get 2yrs notice of a franchise being withdrawn, so they would have known at time of order, when their stock would run out
i think there is a limit on how many cars a dealer can put through on scrappage per qtr, so perhaps they have reached their target?
did they give her any other options, as in, she could buy a different model? or did they not offer any help or explanation?
