Going to collect my mazda 2 today, just been informed i cannot take it away till tuesday as the finance they set up for me has expired as i've had to wait so long :(

    UPDATE:

I went in signed all the paperwork and will collect the car wed. Got a good insurance quote of £298 Fully comp compared to £350 for my old banger TPFF thanks to confused.com :D

Nice one. They have told me around w/c Sept 21st for my Mazda2 TS2 - What colour did you choose? Mine's going to be Metropolitan Grey. Not as boring as it sounds honest lol. Looks quite cool in the brochure.

Anyway £298 is a really good quote, I've looked around and been quoted £500+ You probably have more years under your belt than me though. I've got 4yrs no claims.

Anyone insuring their cars - check out quidco.com where you can get cash back. First find the best quote you can get then go to quidco and compare what price you would pay taking into consideration the cashback you would receive (Ive just insured our new car which comes Wednesday through quidco with More Than and will get £60 cash back.

If youve already bought a policy, you can still check out if you can get a better price through quidco - you have 14 days to cancel policies, dont you?

    Hi

I (hopefully) will be collecting my new Skoda Fabia on Tuesday and am trying to sort my insurance out and have come up with many queries. Buying insurance is one of those things that gets me really worked up as find it so confusing anyway. After trying to get lots of quotes yesterday, every site I visited ended up with not giving me a quote because of problems with the site, leading to me either not being able to complete my details or completing them and technical faults. Successfully quoted from comparison sites, just those through cashback sites were problems or even directly. Anyway, sorry for babbling. My main issues are:

I traded in my 10 year old Polo and have one month left on the policy. It doesn't make sense to me to pay an adjustment fee to change my details over so thought I would just leave it to run whilst getting a new policy for my new car (with a different provider). Am I allowed to do this in terms of benefiting from the no claims?. The reason I ask is that whilst researching online yesterday about other queries I came across one insurer that states can't benefit from no claims if already have a policy with no claims (don't get why that would be anyway but if car is scrapped wonder if that rule applies).

Next question re modifications - I have chosen metallic grey. Is that a modification? Might seem a daft question but on one quote I accidentally selected car modified and then a list of modifications appeared and one of them was paintwork. As metallic isn't standard I don't know whether should declare this. Difference of around £25-£30. Worried if I don't my policy will be invalid.

Also when it comes to the car's value do I just put recommended price all all the extras I have like air conditioning and central locking and metallic which adds up to another grand?

Anyone who has come across these issues themselves would appreciate some advice. Driving me nuts.

Also one thing I've noticed is that going through cashback sites isn't always cheaper. Last year getting a quote directly from provider's website was cheaper than one quoted on cashback.

    Thankyou

    Jules

I want ours to be recycled - surely that was part of the scheme?
  • Went into the showroom on Friday and they phoned Hyundai allocations. The car has still not been built and they couldn't say anymore!! The order date had to be changed as it had breached the 4 month delivery requirement and I don't know if this car is ever going to be built at this rate. There were only two other orders from the date I ordered the car that are still awaiting their cars like me. I am so upset I was in tears. It's ridiculous. They said they would do my MOT for me, but they had previiously said they would lend me a car. The story keeps changing and I am hating Hyundai right now...

Oh dear Jules, knickers in a twist or what :rotfl:

Firstly, always check out the price for insurance BEFORE you go to the cash back site

Modifications normally mean things like lowered suspension and so on, so no, paint colour wouldnt be a problem

The insurance - as you say, you are scrapping that car, so there wont be a car to claim on. Ring up and explain that to them.

The price would be what the car would cost WITH all the mod cons.

    Dont worry so much :)

Honest John's column said a lot of cars certified as scrapped are actually ending up in Poland and others are being dismantled for spares.

so if Poland decides to change from driving on the right to the left we'll know why :o

Im surprised to hear that about Poland - is it the same in all east european countries as our local car auctions is about two thirds east european buyers now, buying up several cars at a time. I assumed they sent them back home (though someone suggested it was for more illegal reasons, re using the I.D. on the scrap vehicles?)

I ordered the met grey too, liked the black but too hard to keep clean :)

I have 5 years NCB. Moneysupermarket gave me quotes of £500 confused was £400. Changed my status from single to common law and it went below £300 so might be worth getting engaged lol.

I had to call up the insurance company in the end as my reg plate wasnt showing on there system yet. I cant believe a brand new car is cheaper to insure than my old banger that was worth £50
