Car Scrappage Scheme

Yes, lots of people knocking this scheme but for many of us it has given us the incentive and/or the opportunity to have a brand new car for the first time ever.
Glitz, we went for the Golf Plus as its that bit bigger, which dont arf make a difference, particularly if you have a dodgey back and 2 dogs to fit in. So many luxuries in it, I shall feel guilty. But then I think back to early on in our marriage when we had two little kids and a car that had cardboard over the hole in the drivers seat well! So I think we deserve a bit of luxury now0 -

I paid a deposit for my brand new i10 auto on May 25th and there is still no sign of it arriving. They tell me that due to the high demand of the i10 on scrappage the automatic seems to have hit some technical problems and is bening held up even more than the manual. It was supposed to have been built in August but my dealer can't even get confirmation of this. He knows that all the shipments in September up to 22nd Sept do not have my car on them, so i am waiting to hear if it is on a later shipment. I am so dissapointed, I've never had a new car before and this long wait and delay has taken the shine off buying it. I would have liked to drive it away in the summer. My MOT is due in October too and I'm getting really worried about all of this. Has anyone else had the same problem??0

You need to keep pushing as I understand that after 16 weeks the dealer has to put through an application again for the scrappage deal.0

Ooooh I've finally recovered from the drive and I'm starting to accept the pretty red car in the drive is actually mine.
As for gadgets, this press the button to open the car doors is wierd for me, the Mondeo thingymabob never really worked so I always opened the car manually. To be able to open it from a distance is really strange.
Other gadgets I like, erm the steering wheel controls for the radio / cd player - ok also having a cd player.
And a cracker is the stop start technology. I thought that would be really wierd, but I love it. When you bring the car to a stop say in traffic queues or at lights, you pop the car into neutral and put the hand break on and the engine switches off. To get it going again you just depress the clutch. How cool is that?
Oh and there is lots of places to chuck things for storage (read junk). I could go on, but should settle down soon. That's me not that car!
The price of my car has now gone up another £300 as of yesterday which means my saving against the book price is not far off £4k. A real bargain and I like many others would never have had a new car if it were not for this scrappage scheme.
Glitz - Sorry to hear you had a minor hic up with yours
Hethmar - I'm so excited for you - fingers crossed your exchange goes smoothly and with a smile. Now who drives it first - you or the partner?
I never thought there would be an advantage to being single and your teenage sons not being able to drive, but there is..........:p0 -

Used in Poland?
Unfortunately for the writer of that rubbish, you cannot register RHD cars in PolandAnd if they're being used for parts - well, isn't recycling better than scrapping?
From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
