I wonder if you can get pre scratched & dented models, so you won't feel sad when the first scrape happens?
Sadly this made me laugh. The mondeo I currently have was 6 years old when I bought it 6 years ago. The newest car I'd ever had to date and within 3 days of getting it, I had a dent in the rear passenger door, and a cracked tail light thanks to I believe a 4 x 4 in the local super market. I was so upset, but with this car I plan to park it as far away from other cars as possible to minimise the risks of this happening again.
On a final note does anyone plan on naming their car? I'm mulling over "Timothy (Toyota) or Austin (as per the first letter of the registration). Current car is Montgomery. Maybe I'm just sad.0 -

My wife names her cars too :rotfl:usually based on the reg number0 -

So be warned, check the paintwork fully, if it's not possible at the time because of the weather or poor light don't sign the acceptance order or make a note on it that you haven't been able to check it properly.
I have found out since that this is not rare, cars often arrive repaired after damage on there journey to the dealer.
Hope this helps, and proves that a new car does not mean a mint car.

You're not joking there. My son (Panelbeater/Sprayer) used to work at the VW Plant in Emden - built and exported Passats - in the 'Rectification' Department. Scratches and dents were ten a penny, but the big jobs were when they collided hard being driven out, fell off transporters, hit quayside bollards, got things dropped on them etc. etc.
Not to worry, they come out looking nice with a factory finish paint job and they're still new cars under warranty and QC was very strict!0 -
interesting, a TV would qualify as factory refurb and be price discounted if it's packaging (never mind the actual TV) was damaged in transit and then it was unpacked, checked and sold. But the car industry is not so honest!0

Bought a new van couple of years ago and the dealer rang to say there would be a delay for me to pick it up as it had fallen off the transporter but not to worry as it would be repaired for me and, quote "you'll never know it happened by the time we've finished with it".
Yeah right. Needless to say I never piced that van up. I suppose in their defence at least he was honest enough to tell me.0 -
is it usual to get the reg through the post never had a new car
No I've never had the reg details sent through to me when buying new vehicles. Last one was 2 years ago so perhaps they've changed how they do it.
You can always get a quote without the reg they will find it based on the vehicle details. Is a pain that the quote will only last 30 days though. Sometimes you want to get a quote which may be the decider on whether you go for that vehicle or another one. My daughter took a chance that the quote won't change too much as the dealer has no idea when her i10 is being delivered so her 30 days will be up.0 -
Hi, I'm waiting for delivery of a Kia Picanto (It'll be called Perry if you're interested;)) don't know the delivery date yet but should be pretty soon. How do I go about insuring it as my father has told me that it will need to be insured so that the dealer can tax it. As I don't know when it's coming and I don't know the reg number either, how do I go about sorting this out? Thanks!Carpe Diem
