333 customer services, T&C say call them to cancel - with 3 months left I don't think they will fight you much...its long term contracts that they seem keen to fight, considering the loss.
my friend rang 3 to cancel because, rather strangely, he actually is going to be working in europe and he would need to keep in touch with his wife.
i told him about this thread and about some of the other ones and he was mildly amused that he wouldn't actually be lying to them.
anyway, i don't know if it was bad luck or anything to do with what you've said about them fighting it, but the operator was the most obnoxious person i've ever heard - my friend had the phone on speaker and this guy fought him tooth and nail over the cancellation even though he's only got 6 months left.
40 minutes into the conversation, the operator basically told him that while he accepted that the text message exists and was sent, and he accepted the terms and conditions, and, most importantly, he accepted that my friend was going to be working in europe, he wasn't going to cancel the contract for free because the removal of "3 Like Home" wouldn't be a detriment to him
He hung up on him and rang back to complain, so he's getting a call back tomorrow afternoon. With any luck he'll get someone a bit more sympathetic.0 -
When I called, my little call rep, became my new Indian little friend for life. He said during the conversation about the change in contract we had become very close friends and he would be devastated if we parted company...
It was a fantastic phone call, the methods he tried...
After 40 mins I was welcome to come and stay with his family and everything... and i still got my PAC.0 -
i guess it's feasible that the word could have come down to the call centre that all disconnection requests must be made as difficult as possible - even though we're legally entitled to do so under this change.
maybe the thinking is that if they make it difficult, we'll get so wound up that we'll just walk away.0 -

If no luck sent notice in writing to 3's registered office. Anything more than a a few months seems to be a problem - 3 must have told the indians a cut off amount ? maybe £150 or something...fight all the way.
3 really have run 3UK badly since 2003.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

Indeed, a 3 manager confirmed such to me, in not so much words 3 India " staff are far from happy with 3UK that they (3UK) breach the T&C & the immense pressure is put on "us" to save customers "........another change of T&C, AGAIN & the staff know how customers since 2003 have felt - getting treated like something you find in a doggie poop bag.
I can confirm approx 50% of people I ask that are on 3 have not been notified via text or mail....of course I fill them in and up to date.
I have heard 1 glowing report about 3 from 1 persons parent out of about 30 odd in last few weeks, raving how great the plan was to their usage & cost was "not bad" until I pointed Orange actually met their needs better LOL, I asked have they called customer services "NO", I laughed - they asked why, I explained, they asked more about 3LH cancellation & asked others about customer services....they PAC'd out FREE 4 months into a 18 monther to Orange on word of mouth of customer services alone from a few past & present ( almost ) customers.
3UK really has spent 6 years destroying itself and spending £20 billion +, so if you ever get offered a job by any worldwide Hutchison Telecom company....forget it !SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... Having successfully escaped from my 3 contract early:j:beer: after enduring all of the tactics listed in this topic by 3 to prevent me, I believe that 3 have left me with one beneficial legacy.
The patience to deal with lying, procrastinating, devious, cheating, conniving, scheming, manipulative shysters.
The evening before my porting they even had the cheek to call me and try to con me into canceling the port. Ph*cking barstewards.
I do actually feel sorry for the innocent majority of call center staff in India who are fed the manure to trot out to the prospective cancelees, they are only getting a few rupees per call and have to take one hell a lot of flack on behalf of Hutch.
I do not like to wish ill on anyone but the sooner this godawful organisation goes to the wall the better.
I have had mobile phones since the late 70's and have NEVER (sorry to shout) had such an appalling all round experience.
If you want to keep your number I strongly suggest you abandon ship ASAP as you may not be able to get it back when they do go bust.
On a happier note, I now have a sim only Simplicity on a 12 month contract, 800 minutes, 1600 texts, unlimited web for £19.58/M with O2. I get to choose my own phone rather than have some redundant junk palmed off on me and when I go abroad I will use a Vodafone PAYG sim to benefit from the low roaming cost.:T

Here endeth the 3rd lesson:A

PS
I can now make phone calls without having to stand on my left leg with my !!!! in the air on the roof of my car.0 -
my friend asked me if i would ring 3 back tomorrow on his behalf, since i've actually successfully cancelled.
On one hand, i've known the guy for 35 years so i could pass myself off as him with very little effort, but on the other hand I wouldn't really want to drop him in it i guess.
we'll see - he's going to let me know how the callback goes and i'll decide.0 -
