The rude guy working on behalf of Kevin Russel said its not detrimental to me even though I've used 3LH on other contracts before this (at the time of ordering in December 2008 it was better for me to take out a new contract than upgrade). He said he is only investigating this one telephone number and is not interested whether I have used the service on other contracts or what my plans are for the future.

Just called 3 customer services (after speaking to this numpty) and recorded the call they say it definitely finishes on 20th June 2009, and the credit is applied to my account. So that is 3 times they have confirmed it cancelling on 20th June (but only once recorded)... can they do anything if I cancel my direct debit after 20th June?

How does he know whether it is going to be detrimental to you or not, thats precisely the point, the ending of the service has the potential to be detremental to you or anyone on the 3 network.
They have changed there terms and conditions giving you the right to cancel without penalty full stop.
These are the dirty tricks that 3 unfortunately resort to, they wan't to get you into a conversation and debate about where you go on holiday, where you plan to go, you haven't used it before, etc, all of which are totally irrelevant(which is exactly what I told them)just be firm and resolute, they haven't got a leg to stand on and they know it.
Write a letter to UK executive outlining what their alleged customer services are up to and reiterating your cancellation.
I got a phone call today as well offering me £5 off my contract per month, just said NO I'm not interested and hung up, then contacted 3 cancellations again got them to once more confirm my contract is ending without charge and changing to PAYG. There was a record of the call made to me so I restated I wasn't interested, and asked that they didn't contact me again.

They are unbelievably rude at exec office I agree. Tbh it seems people are having more luck cancelling just with CS India, without involving exec office, so you could just try that.

Cant help but wonder why three have gone down this route only in the UK, maybe their looking at a possible sell or merger with another network in the UK, possibly like in Australia with Vodafone. As the 3LH service would possibly put another network off any deal, as it would cost them more to run the service?

3 a merger makes no sense they would have to offload the 3G licence that cost near £5 BILLION!!! Due to ALL UK networks having 3G licences 3 be lucky to get a fifth of that in today's climate.

Saying that £1 billion to Walmart-Asda, Ikea, Virgin, Talk Talk or moreso BT is peanuts, I could see the latter three pick it up no problem.

BT & Virgin miss a network, & Talk Talk taking over Tiscali gives all 3 QUADPLAY landline, mobile, TV & broadband .

or Talk Talk/T-mobile is bought by BT or Virgin to exploit thier QUADPLAY already existing.

EDIT: Sky covers all senario's !

Millions? Come on now. I think it is abundantly clear that you actually HATE Three and every post you make is somehow slagging them or wishing they go bust. Why can't you let go? Do you think Kevin woke up one day and decided to do this on a whim? Your posts get more ridiculous by the day.

Hate 3 ? I was 3 from 2003 until 2009, the products great - the customer care better than ever but still AWFUL. 3UK will go bust/sell out - in 6 years its never made a profit but bailed out from its massive debts by its head office Hutch Telecom & their head office HWL - 3UK cannot sustain its losses much longer.

If the average ETF is £500 how many customers does 3 lose for a million ?

    2000 thousand customers........YES MILLIONS !!!!

Now ask yourself did Kevin remove 3LH on a whim.......Now ask what's so ridiculous about my daily posts ?

Kevin tried to implement the 3AU structure on 3UK, it failed - two complete different markets & for a Scotsman I'm amazed at his poor lack of judgement, then again he had not lived in the UK for a long time after HK & AU so how was he to know the market ? He didn't & never took time ! and just took 3AU plan and placed it in motion - foolish for any exec management to do. Even T-Mobile admitted Flext was based on the AU market, then 3 MnM slipped in with the second UK cap, thing is AU flext/caps include international calls/text and mms.....thats why they work !...in AU !!
I know I had a 3AU account. 3AU done there what 3UK done here...shook up a market then let it slide by, Hutch Telecom AU/3AU are in the same 6 year financial mess in AU as the 3UK - 3AU are trying to merge with Voda AU so instead as the bottom two telecoms they fight the main TWO big telcos together as one - Vodafone Hutchison Australia ( VHA ), the Australian Competition Commission rules on 29th May if the merger can go ahead, Vodafone AU have the option to buy controlling shares in 3AU parent company Hutch Telecom AU if 3 pull out....3 is leaving non performing markets asap - 3's parent companies cannot afford to keep bail out after bail out, 3AU/Hutch Telecom AU/Hutch/HWL are due $500 million to Vodafone AU if the merger goes ahead.

Kevin just added to 3UK's debts/bail outs.

3LH kept loyalty & now over bad care as nowhere matched such.....customers are deserting 3. Besides that CHANCERS like getting out for free & a nice new phone, 3 gave everybody 3LH user or not that opportunity.

If you stay with 3, no you will not need to unlock the phone. About unlocking for another network, I usually just go to my local market and there are a load of shops that do it, usually charge about £5-£8 where i live.
    Not for a 3G Nokia - call 3 & pay £15 for unlock code ;)

Had a call from someone in Executive Office today, saying Im unable to cancel as I've not used 3LH on this current contract. Am I still able to cancel?

Well now the Exec are lying....because thats crap....who did you speak to ?

Certainly I was never told ANYTHING of the sort, Exec confirmed I eventually got a PAC from India & was free to go with NO Early Termination Fee, confirmed no 3LH usage EVER on my account & the next 12 months of 3LH removal were detrimental to my remaining 12 months of 18.

Mind you I did take a official complaint "of a breach of my agreed T&C" to OFCOM & they got that sent to 3 by OFCOM, I was on the phone to Exec the minute I had my OFCOM reference.

OFCOM seems to be the way to approach the Exec Office then, have we not been in this situation before 3UK ?

    T&C changes - cancellation denial - OFCOM - satisfactory CLOSURE/CANCELLATION

I feel sorry for the stress Exec & India are getting.....its typical of 3UK's 6 year management structure - 3UK needed a outsider when previous CEO Bob left to really move 3UK forward.

Kevin did not succeed at reviving 3AU into profit, what made 3 think he could do 3UK ? Kevin maybe Scots but its a long time since he lived on UK soil & understood its public/customers needs - he got 3UK on a plate due to a long successful history at Hutchison in Hong Kong, success at financial with 3AU never came, success here is the same.

3 need a non HWL ex employee to sort the company out,....instead each consecutive CEO blames termination charges ? Well up you customer base with good UK care & policies and watch 3UK's termination income go UP...as MEEEEEERKAT says.......

    "SIMPLE'S!"
