Edit: They now say that don't have unlock code for my phone (E71) so will be 15 working days to get it. Which means they are holding me hostage for another 3 weeks! I can't go and get another contract until then because the phone will be useless and I don't want to pay 3 weeks of 2 contracts.
Sounds like a very familar story.
When I got my contract for my E71, it was an upgrade. I was leaving the country on secondment, but they really wanted me to upgrade. I eventually agreed an upgrade on the condition that the phone would be provided unlocked, so I could use it whilst travelling as well.
I got the phone, and it was locked. I phoned up, they said it would take 3 weeks for them to get the code. Of course, after 3 weeks I was in Singapore.
Making international calls, to get my code I was then told that I would have to pay for the unlock code. They wanted nearly 300 quid for the code.
It was an absolute disgrace. I didnt want the phone anyway, and I only agreed to have it if it was unlocked. I told them I wanted to cancel the whole agreement, but they were only will to collect the phone from me in UK.
I have always hated three, but stuck with them because I travel to HK a lot and use three at home to phone back UK.
I am thinking of emailing them, but not sure if I can take any more of their lies and cheatingMortgage when started (Dec 2005): £120,000

My Sony Ericsson C510 is now unlocked!
It turns out that when I got a replacement handset a while ago, the person at the 3 store got the IMEI codes of the old and new handsets confused, meaning that my IMEI number wasn't matching up to the one on my account (which was that of the broken phone that was replaced! D'oh!). Took quite a while for them to sort it out, but they were so helpful. Quite a different bunch to the people at the retentions department! The funny thing was, when I was passed over to an English girl at the end who would charge my card and give me the code, I had far more trouble understanding her northern accent than the foreign tech guy I had before!
Paid £14.33, and they confirmed my contract had been terminated with no disconnection charge.0 -
I spoke to the Exec Office who confirmed that customers prior to APRIL 2009 CAN ALL LEAVE PENALTY FREE, "3 are checking 3LH usage as a first" but I pushed the Exec employee & said surely if a contract signed before April 2009 is signed regardless of past roaming it effects the remaining contract "commitment" period outstanding for roaming on 3LH & that would be a detrimental to any pre April 2009 customer...." Of course then you can cancel Mr .... I see you got a PAC *eventually* from customer services & I have placed an additional note of this on your a/c for the contact centre dealing with your other 2 accounts "
Now I have NEVER BEFORE used 3LH & but I intended to within my contract period which I upgraded in Dec 2008, & I "CAN leave penalty free", ALL pre APRIL 2009 customers can
When I asked if they were aware of the lies " customer options " were telling customers surrounding 3LH the EXEC employee declined to comment or (interestingly) DEFEND 3 customer services India actions even when I told him I had recordings of such.
Simply....if customers dont push 10.1 d they dont get out penalty free.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
has anybody had any decent retention deal?0

I would be surprise if the Exec office does not know what the Indian Customer Service is doing. And to be frank, the CS has no reason to lie if this is not an instruction coming from the top. I'll let you to figure out the rest.......
I really hope the watchdog to look into this as Three has systematically employed such disgraceful tricks (cheat, lies, ignore T&C change in contract) to conduct business in the last few years. Someone should pay the price for such unacceptable behaviour, or if you like, acts that intervene UK law.0 -
I had about 11 missed calls from 3 regarding the e-mail I sent to them last week. Wasnt really in the mood to answer them but will give them a call tomorrow.
If they bothered to ring me they must be conceding that I do have the right to cancel - I think they would have ignored it if I wasnt entitled to.0 -
I have used this service in Denmark many times and feel cheated by them removing this feature on our contracts, as its only us here in the UK that are having this feature removed. I have already tried to cancel my 3 contracts with them and was offered £20 credit on them all with a £5 per month loyalty bonus, which I will not be taking, and was also told that all the three networks were stopping the 3LH service. Over the weekend i called both the Irish and Danish arm of 3 and both assured me that the 3LH service was not being stopped, so yet again more lies from India. The data from the other 3 websites is below regarding their 3LH service, also worth a note is that Danish and Swedish 3 customers get to share the networks and its not even classed as roaming, now wouldent that be nice for say UK and Ireland.
Ireland :- Pay a home rate for calls to Ireland when abroad. Texts cost the same, too. And receiving calls is absolutely free – just like home. The country you’re visiting just has to have a 3 network. So far, there are 3 networks in the UK, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Hong Kong, and Australia. Simply select the 3 network when you arrive and you’re done.
You can use your flexi-units to call or text back to Ireland and browse the internet. Once you’ve used your allowance, you’ll be charged at the prices below.....
Denmark :- Danish prices in Sweden Going to Sweden, you can safely use 3Mobilen as usual. Network opkaldsafgift and call charge is exactly the same in 3's network in Sweden as in Denmark. When you're in 3's network in Sweden, is either 3 SE, Sweden SWE 3 or the display of your 3Mobil. "3 like home" in all 3lande
Are the trip to one of the other 3Lande: England, Ireland, Austria, Italy, Australia or Hong Kong, you can also speak at the same price as in Denmark, when you're in 3's network. It is also free to receive calls in 3lande. Remember to check that there are 3 of the display of the phone. In Italy, for example. read "3 ITA".
Sweden :- All 3s subscription customers of 3Like home. This means in brief that you always call your regular price when you are in 3s networks in Austria, Italy, Denmark, UK, Ireland, Australia and Hong Kong. The connection fee for all calls when you are you in 3s network abroad is 0.69 (incl. VAT), then call home to your normal national rate.Att ta emot samtal då du befinner i något av 3s nät är kostnadsfritt. To receive calls when you are in any of 3s network is free.
Austria :- Are you tired of expensive roaming charges abroad? Then we have good news for you: From now on, the favorable 3Tarife also in many other countries. For all 3Kunden *, free of charge and without any extra application.
If Italy, Great Britain, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Australia and Hong Kong to your destination, then we now have great news for you: From now apply in these countries 3Netzen the favorable 3Tarife *, and you avoid any roaming charges!
With 3 Like Home will benefit you in all 3Ländern by the same conditions as at home as long as you 3Netz the use of each country .0 -

After having WW1 with one of the advisors, being disconnected about 5 times due to poor reception (even though I had full bars), being hung up on once, passed from department to department, it's finally been done!
Much appreciated folks.
So I've made use of my PAC code now and my number was transfered to T-Mobile today.
What happens to my Three sim though, do I get a temp number till the 30 days are up?0 -

The sim's a dud as soon as the number is transferred.0 -
Adamthwaite, Does that mean if you buy a payg sim abroad, you can top here and still get cheap calls? I was thinking of getting one in Hong Kong for example.0
