Three are cheating the customer? Hang on, a company is losing money with people cancelling their contracts through a glitch imposed on the company by the EU.
This isn't a glitch imposed on 3 by the EU! What on earth gives you that idea?
This was an excellent provision made by 3 for those of us that are/were with 3 to get onto THEIR OWN network in countries where this existed, and use our inclusive minutes and texts without incurring additional costs.
This has got absolutely nothing at all to do with the EU and roaming charges - this is the withdrawal of a facility that everyone had the use of, which 3 have terminated, and therefore resulted in a detrimental change to the contracted terms and conditions.
What a lot of people are complaining about is the sneaky way that this has been notified to people (by 2 versions of text) and the underhand way that 3CS are trying to impose ETF's to people that don't stand their ground!
If I was a betting man, I would say that the withdrawal of this service could be a pre-cursor to the network being broken up and sold off.

Does that matter? They are changing the T&C in the contract and customers are within their right to demand termination of the contract. Whether Three makes money or not is completely irrelavant.0 -
Have signed up to a sim only plan with T-Mobile today. Not ready to get caught up in another 18 month contact especially as my phone is only 2 months old. I will wait to see what comes out later in the year.
For anyone that wants to unlock a Nokia E71 they apparently don't have the code and need to get it from Nokia and this will take 15 working days. I am going to use an old phone untill the unlock code comes through.0 -

Hardly. Three recently increased (by 36%!) their roaming charges inside the EU. They claimed it was because of the sterling becoming weaker but sterling had only dropped by about 15% against the euro in the previous year.
3 are totally unaffected by the EU mandated capping of roaming charges (to about 40p/min), since all their EU roaming rates were already cheaper than the caps.0 -
Quick update: the PAC they issued worked today - will end my time with them on Thursday.0

All that is going to happen is Three will up their prices gradually for new customers.
Anyone who cancels is gaining a free phone and not having to pay the line rental to Three any more.
On another note - Vodafone are abolishing their roaming charges for 3 months. That seems suspicious - are vodafone impacted in the same way as Three but doing a clever thing for 3 months but could change the terms for new contracts in meantime whilst letting existing contracts expire?
EU closed 3LH ? eh ?? what did i miss here then ? NOTHING
3UK removed 3LH
other 3 countries still have it intact, and at the end of the day Hutch Telecom can tell 3 companies to absorb the cost of each others roaming - as for " roaming accidents " why not remove " other " roaming partners in 3LH countries ? Simple...roaming costs are away to boost revenue in light of a sale
" all thats going to happen to 3 " is Hutch are going to sell off the UK £20 billion loss making 6 yr division, 3AU another loss making 3 branch is being merged with Voda AU to compete with the other 2 big Telco's Telstra & Singtel owned Optus
3Italy & 3HK make money and are going strong, others are getting merged & the worst will get sold, Hutch Telecom parent company HWL is a service/export/retail/hotel empire, we know what happens to revenue in recessions.....and service based companies like HWL take the worst hits, now imagine we have a global recession like never seen before...
3UK has been poorly run since conception, I have used 6 of the 3 companies worldwide.....UK is bottom of the pile
maybe India still hates the BRITISH ( for very valid reasons ), because as a customer of other 3 networks BRITS get the worst deal from India "care"SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

Hi CookieMonster, Did they say anything about charging for the unlock code? Did you just ring 333 to ask for the unlock? How will they send you the unlock code?
My number is due to PAC over to Vodaphone Sim only (30 days notice) on Tuesday. Do I need to ask for the unclock code before the transfer to Vodaphone happens?
Thanks0 -

They are going to charge £14.68 for the unlock code. I rang 333 and went throught to general enquiries. I think once they have the code from the manufacturer they are going to call and let me know how to unlock it. Could take up to 15 working days. Worst case we will just take them to one of the phone shops on the high street that can unlock phones.
We used our PAC codes yesterday and should be transferred across on Thursday I think. When I asked for the unlock code yesterday I was told that they won't give it to you until your contract is cancelled (once the number is with Vodaphone). I argued with them and they agreed to unlock before the phone is cancelled.
UPDATE: 3 just phoned with the unlock code for one of the E71's but may have to wait up to 15 days for the other unlock code.0 -
I just phoned for an unlock code for my Sony Ericsson C510, and weirdly they said they had no record of the IMEI code I stated belonging to me, and that I should go to a 3 store to get it unlocked. Strange?0
