Happy birthday DMV and Missy - I hope you've both had perfect days.
Victory - at least you're on the right place here to get support, and advice on how to NOT pay £60 bank charges. Isn't it scandalous, when you see how much of taxpayers money they've had this year!
I've been out most of today, so this is a brief visit. I spent the morning test driving cars with my teenage neice, who wants to change her car. Frankly, I think she's going to get ripped off. I'm quite a confident car buyer, and know my way round one more than most girls (and some men), so was able to spot that the 1st one we saw had been involved in a prang, as the headlamp was out of alignment, and the 2nd car was downright minging, and hadn't been properly cleaned, so it was clear it had been some kind of courtesy car, or fleet/pool vehicle and abused. Not worth the money either way.
I then spent the afternoon visiting a friend, and we had a good natter.
Food has been ok-ish. A little disjointed, and too many carbs for my liking.
B - toast (no milk in the house)
L - cheese roll
D - pasta & slice of onion tart
snack - walnut whip - ooh it was lush, and i've had it since Xmas!
Polka - that new place sounds just perfect for you all. Congratulations!
nmm - I hope the toe feels better. Ouch! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -

Vix - I was wondering - is there any mileage in starting up a home bra measuring service? Just as a little side line to the job you already have? You have such passion & knowledge in this area.
Yes it is really hard being without work. I guess the answer is to try and find other things that give you purpose, without wanting to underestimate the value being paid for your labour gives, as well as its practical benfits i.e. money to do the things you want to do.
I've never had a career because of my health so I've had to work hard to be content in who I am and let go of an identity wrapped up in what I do. Still got a little bit of me that would love to do something impressive and amazing though:D. To be independent, I let out a room in my home and work very part time in a dull clerical job (but with lovely people, so am grateful).
I have thought about this, and my friend suggested we should go around peoples homes doing it but i think you would need too much to start it. Everyone wants something specific from a bra, like seam free, push up ect, so the only people i could target who arent as fussy are the elderly. Trouble is they only want to spend about a tenner so for the time i would take to do it it wouldnt be financially viable. The only way is to have my own shop which i have thought about but i don't want the responsibilty of it. I would love to run, work and manage it without all the crap involved! I had to work on womenswear today and it made me realise that even though 95% of debenhams has !!!!!! in it, my department is fab and i do enjoy it. It will be hard to leave!
I dunno really what i want BB. Sometimes i just want a family, other times i want to get stuck in to what i have been learning about for the past 3 years. Its interesting when you refer to yourself never having a career and how you had to loose the identity is what you do thing, but for me looking at you now i see you as someone who goes out to work and runs the house, so really you do have an identity in what you do, even if if it isnt a mon-fri 9-5 type thing.
I think half of my problem is that every 5 minutes im asked, "have you got a job yet" There is an expectation that because i have a degree i should get a job straight away and that in some way i am failing because i don't, and now i fall into the might aswell be on job seekers bracket. Anyway, i've worked flipping loads this week and im knackered and my flat is a mess and i'll be glad when i have time off to clean it! ha.0 -

Vix, I think you've got it in a nutshell there. It's all to do with the image you present to the outside world and your self image. You too DO have an identity in what you do, how you're perceived by others is part of it. Being defined by your paid work can be as small or as great part as you make it. How about defining yourself in other ways? What are you to your family, your real life friends, your colleagues at debs, Matt, and us - your cyber friends?

I went to get a new bra today as I had been wearing a 38 DD and was on the tightest setting and still loose, so tried on a few in the shop, I'm a 36E, I guess you go down a band, up a cup as it's the same size, or it works out like that. Anyways OH thinks its great. Men!
Really annoyed today, I bought a bright pink vest top a few weeks back and noticed it had a black mark on it, so put some vanish on it and stuck it in the wash, and the vanish has bleached it! ARGH! I've written them a nice email about it. The vest was only £8 but it's the principal! It shouldn't say it's a STAIN REMOVER if it's removes the colour!
Chocolate M&M anyone? No just me? NOM NOM NOM. Yes my diet is out the window today0 -

LOVE my staff discount! I might take my underwear back though and get a handbag instead.
Did anyone watch the apprentice last night? My boss was on it from visit kent! When the loosing team went in to pitch to the pros/locals she was in it and asked the bloke a question about the leaflet. I was like oooooh i know her! shes such a tourism looking lady. It was fab being about margate, and that is the kinda job i would love, to re brand/ re generate a town.
