Hello people!
Could you please warn us when you start with the food !!!!!!!!:rotfl:
I'd like you to work out the calories per portion for those cakes! Here I am sat eating a salad, attempting to abstain from goodies, and ignore the fact that my BF has jaffa cakes in the cupboard, and you all start talking about my favourite subject - food, especially cakes!!
FWIW my top tip on making cakes is to never overlook the importance of the creaming together of the butter/sugar. Cakes can be spoiled if the time isn't spent properly doing that part. All of my boys have had a mummy masterclass in baking a sponge, and my 15y/o actually won first prize for his in the village show last year! My 8 y/o got 2nd place for his, and my eldest's shortbread won 1st prize (all in adult sections, I might add). I got 1st for my cookies & fruit loaf, she says, not wanting to appear outdone! he he
Buttons - if you have good non-stick pans, provided you've still greased them well, they should still allow the cake to release from the sides, sometimes with a bit of teasing with a plastic spatula, if you've allowed them to cool slightly before attempting.
*food !!!!!! alert!* As for the choc mayo cake, I used to make one and it was lovely and sticky, like a gooey fudge cake. My all time best cake has to be a large carrot cake with a mascapone cheese frosting - scrum! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -

Victory, have you tried Amazon (not necessarily for the Wii), no fees until you sell. Lots of info here:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1505085
Don't be put off by the size of the first few posts, if you have any questions just post one at the end, people are usually quick to respond.
Have you looked at play.com for selling your Wii

NO I haven't never thought of it, thanks will go now and have a look:D
10% of the final price plus 50p from pay.com and 8.5% from amazon is a lot, not doing that, will either sell to the woman, get my son to tell his school it is for sale (all his teenage mates) or keep talking and telling people it is here for sale either way will get all the profits that way0 -
Sorry to be nosey Victory, but how much are you selling it for? I'd quite like a Wii, it's just getting it and all the accessories that puts me off!0

OOPS-Sorry. Sary if you do a standard high density sponge using self raising flour, eggs, caster sugar and unsalted butter...one slice (withough icing) is about 250 calories. A 6 inch cake has 2804 calories. Is that enough damage control?
Thanks for making me do that calculation:TI shall look into what goes into my italian meringue buttercream later on. Thos are some fab accolades your family holds.
Very good point about creaming...I forget that sometimes because I prefer not to use butter in my sponges.
NMM What is significant about this week that most of us give up? Although it is good to know as I'm struggling lots this week:rolleyes:0 -
Victory, I'm not surprised that selling the Wii is not as good as selling local, but as an additional income Amazon can be quite a nice little earner - especially if you hang out at boot fairs anyway. Although you do need some space to store books (a dry shed works fine for me).
The profit to be made is proportional to the time you can put in though - recently I have been too busy with work, fitness etc
Do bear in mind tax implications etc if you decide to take a look, although if you are unemployed and not receiving benefits you have to make more than the tax allowance before the impact hits you - you would still need to keep records.

I'm quite surprised it's as late as May for people giving up resolutions etc! I would have thought earlier in the year than that.
Totally agree with you nmm, we have a lot of resolutions/targets on here between us, and we need to prove that article wrong as far as we're concerned!!!0 -
