Neighbour threatening my cat - advice please?

I dislike cats but I dilike cat owners that don't see how traumatising it is to see one playing with and then mauling a bird to death more than the cats themselves. I'm fed up of the neighbours cat that pulled a nest of greenfinches out of the tree and mauled them all, and the one that had a young thrush fitting in its mouth.
As for the crapping everywhere, well if I came and crapped in you're garden wouldn't you dislike me? I lob any cat poo I find over the fence onto the neighbours patio. Its their cat and therefore their problem so they can clean it up. I also have a super soaker that I fill with a mix of orange juice and water to spray them whenever I can and this is with the consent of my friend who lives nearby and who's cat is one that gets it occasionally.
Cats are disgusting animals and completely antisocial. I'm really surprised how many cat owners can't see what they are imposing on other people. If I had a dog that went round mauling the neighbours cats then everyone would be up in arms about me hourbouring a brutal animal... well cats are just the same in my opinion.
As for what the neighbour had said to the OP, they were probably overeacting but you need to understand that you're cats behaviour has caused people discomfort so maybe its time to stop being an antisocial neighbour and get it put down?
Sorry to be brutal but this is a subject close to my heart and it makes me angry that cat owners don't see the damage they do.
Thats all in your opinion, And saying someone to get a cat put down? Now thats disgusting. Cats have been associated with humans for atleast 9,500 years, Sounds pretty native to the UK to me.0 -
There are of course, measures that cat owners can put into place to endeavour to keep their cats from messing in other people's gardens.
When we first moved into our house, we designated four different areas of our garden where we wanted our cats to poo. Sounds bonkers but we then set up a cat litter tray just outside the back door and they used it. We gradually moved the tray further and further up the garden until it was at one of our 'chosen' spots. We then removed the tray itself but sprinkled a fair amount of litter on the spot. The cats then began to use the spot to do their business. We then put litter in the other three areas in rotation. the cats have used these areas ever since.
We are quite lucky to have the space to do this, the areas are well away from the rest of the garden and are filled with fresh soil regularly. It works for us anyway.0 -

I say that if a domestic animal is causing people considerable distress, causing the owner to fall out with their neighbours then yes, you have to cut your losses.

I never suggested it should be maimed. The cat is causing you grief, if a dog was causing such distress to a neighbourhood then I would expect it to be put down. You're cat is subjecting people trying to enjoy peace in their own homes to their very own little horror show - is that not antisocial behavior?
The cat's not causing ME grief in the slightest, in fact I adore her. And my cat is not the only one in the area who catches birds, so me having her put down is hardly going to prevent the problem is it? Get real.0 -

I'm afraid you're wrong. There are cats that are native to Scotland.Save me from spending...

But shoudl the council get into neighbour disputes like this? Are the council there to mollycoddle anyone that falls out with one of their tenants? It just seemed a bit cry baby to me......
So, if you had a pet bird, and someone threatened it, you'd sit back and do nothing?
Nice.
And also, if you read, I have decided to retract my complaint to the council.0 -
Great, blue or long-tailed? Two words for you - Toxocara cati. You'll probably struggle with the pronunciation, given the extent of your vocabulary. QUOTE]
The extent of my vocabulary?! This, coming from someone who complains about a couple of cat hairs on the local bus? :rotfl:laughable!0 -
