can you people advice me which one is better value? I need to have more information on that 10 mandatory calls per month, which numbers count as eligible and how much would I be charged if either I make those 10 calls or not!??
many thanks!:A
Personally I would go with BT and O2.
With a BT line you have an open choice of all providers for broadband. You will have to make those 10 calls per month otherwise you will be charged the full installation fee of £122.50. However you do have inclusive weekend calls to 01/02/03 numbers so simply make the 10 calls at the weekend and you won't be charged anything.0 -

so if I fail to make those 10 calls, will I be charged for installation (£122.50) at any point???
or is it just an additional fee they charge me??
also are there any specific length of call required for those 10 calls? as I said I really don't need to make any calls from the landline, and it appers I have to do that in order to stay on £11.25 price plan..so say if I call a landline number 10 times for just few seconds will that be okay??
it's just that it makes no sense why should someone make those 10 calls when they are inclusive (and free)?0 -
thanks,that helped..

From the T&C that espresso linked to;
"If you are billed quarterly and you don't make your minimum 30 calls a quarter, you will need to pay £20.40 (Incl. VAT) for every quarter you don't make these calls. If you are billed monthly and you don't make your minimum 10 calls a month, you will need to pay £6.80 (Incl. VAT) for every month you don't make these calls. This charge will appear in the One-off charges section. "also are there any specific length of call required for those 10 calls? as I said I really don't need to make any calls from the landline, and it appers I have to do that in order to stay on £11.25 price plan..so say if I call a landline number 10 times for just few seconds will that be okay??
As long as the call connects it doesn't matter how long or how short it is.it's just that it makes no sense why should someone make those 10 calls when they are inclusive (and free)?
The whole plan is that you keep your calls with them for 18 months and that you might at some point actually make some proper chargeable calls. It's to stop people taking advantage of the offer and then migrating immediately to another provider.0 -
Hi
I am after a little advice, i am moving to a new build property on 29-12-2009 and have been quoted the above connection fee but have since read i may be abke to get it free if i sign uo for 18 months. But a month or so ago i signed up to 12 month contract with free weekend calls or somesuch as did not know would be offered a move so soon. Would this stop me getting the 18 month free connection deal thing? if no what is it called and who do i ask to speak to when ringing back to discuss (currrently agreed to the charge:mad: and engineer coming 12-01-2010). Any money i can save will help loads as moving is mega expensive at any time but funds stretched beyond breaking point at mo re xmas and the move.
Thank you in advance.

Hi AJ
Give BT a call in the morning, make sure you talk to someone in the UK!
If they say NO it's to late to cancel, start quoting DSR rules, Trading Standards, DTI, Local MP etc etc etc (get the picture?).
After all you will be staying with BT but on a 18 mth contract NOT a 12 mth one!!!
GOOD LUCKStuart0 -
hi,
I just moved into to new flat!
I desperately need internet for work and ideally need high/UNLIMITED download allowance as me and my partner use the internet a lot! I'm NOT after a phone line we have a O2 mobiles. I'm also considering in getting tv in the digital bundle as well, although might not opt for this if it is too expensive!!
Problem 1:
Is BT say i need to pay the large connection fee £122.50 to get the line connected, even through there are bt lines in the place i moved into.
Problem 2:
I am not sure if we are going to be in the property after 6mnths so I need a deal that’s no contract Or cheap to cancel after 6mths...Or a contract that’s cheap enough, that i don’t mind paying rest of contract.
Does any one know if i get 18mth (free line installation) contract how much and can i cancel the contract after 6mths? And if i do would i be charged the line connection fee that i originally got for free?
Problem 3:
The property does not have a tv aerial and i am having a hard time trying to get a good connection with a manual indoors aerial. I have a lovely tv put rubbish signal!! I’m not really after all the flashy channels and I would be quite happy with the basics.
So far i see my only options to solving the tv problem is sky or virgin but these look expensive or clash with problem 2 (timely contracts that i would have to pay alot to get out off.) Or would it be possible/better to install an aerial or some sort of other dish!!??
Any solutions or suggestions ...i would be grateful!!0 -
I took the 18 months contract (free installation) for £11.25 per month (assuming I make 10 calls every month) just before end of december after discussing the matter in this forum.
I called Bt customer option team and they agreed I will get :
Free Installation
18 month contract
online bills
paying by DD
and I have to make 10 chargable/inclusive calls every month
FOR £11.25 per month.
however I received an wrong statement from BT today, asking me pay £15.25 every month plus £30 installation..
I called customer service and after about 40 minutes, they agreed to re-adjust this statement so I wont pay any installation charge HOWEVER they are saying I still have to pay £14.40 instead of 11.25 every month! and that I can't take two offers together! this is quite strange cause when I called their option team to order it was clearly confirmed and was part of terms and condition.
thay are asking me to WRITE to BT correspondance and ask for (what I was supposed to get in first place).
any advice??
