Thanks for the help yesterday everyone. They hung up on me once but i called back and the woman i was speaking to knew what i was talking about. They did try to charge me fifty quid for a credit check though. Anyone had this? I'm going through a dispute with virgin just now do you think they have put a black mark against my name? I told her I was not prepared to pay the charge though and after a minute on hold she told me i didnt have to pay.0

My 1st time on a forum..Anyway good news
Ive rang plusnet and the following info is confirmed and correct !!
UK ISP Plusnet has extended its new phone line installations promotion until 31st January 2010. The offer gives a reduced install price of just £49.99 to the providers Home Broadband subscribers and costs less than half of the wholesale cost. The provider claims that there is also no contract and just a 10 day notice period attached.
Ive been searching for hours and its the best deal ive found.
That will save a fortune.0 -

Pricewise how can £49.99 be better then BT.s Free Connection Offer.0 -
The BT offer maybe free but your tied in for 18 month with little option to swap broadband providers. I guess some people out there just want a bt line and then be able to choose there own deal without a financial penalty for swapping.0

With a BT landline, you can opt for any ADSL broadband provider.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I though BT tied you in for 18 months and if you decide to swap before that period ends, you have to pay for the whole 18 month.? Im currently looking at ways just to get a Bt line then immidietely swap so i can get a digital tv/broadband package.0
