I thought this was supposed to be FREE? I've just had my confirmation letter and it indicates I'm getting a discount of £92.55 from the charge of £122.50. My calculator makes that a charge of £29.95 - a long way from being free.

Can anyone explain this please or do I need to call them?

    Your need to call them.

I recall the last chargeable 18 month contract offer was £29.99,but that was ages ago.

I have just called them. The person I spoke to said I could have the full discount but it was too late to change my order. I would need to phone them on receipt of my first bill to get it amended and he would put a note on my account to this effect.

I thought it was strange that he did not have access to email so that he could confirm it in writing. I suppose I am just going to have to be trusting.

    Hi everyone,

    disney_cjd - Live Chat link is http://www.bt.com/chat - Open Mon/Fri 10am/5pm

billsavings - Yes you are correct this was an old offer

BarGin - I acknowledge my colleague may not have access to email but I'd be happy to credit the ?29.95 if you would kindly email me btcare@bt.com when your bill arrives. Could you also add MSE - BarGin - Jon is the subject line. Regard the socket you'd need to speak to the engineer on Friday as he/she may place it where you need it.

    Regards,
    Jon.

It seems I have a case of out of the frying pan, into the fire. I quit VM because of problems and walked into new problems with BT.

An engineer called today to install my new line and left with everything working. A couple of hours later I went to make a call and the line was dead! I tried BT's online fault checker and kept getting error messages saying the service is down at the moment.

I then phoned faults only to be told that my number was still registered to a company, presumably previous users of that number. The lady then transferred me to CS who told me there was a problem with activation which would take up to 48 hours to look into.

At least my Virgin phone is still working!
  • Hi everyone,

Has your MSE PM system been disabled? I ask because I was instructed to PM you when my Virgin line disconnected and the number became available, however its now saying you don't accept PMs?
  • Hey,

I called up today, and got the offer without any problems. Spoke to the customer options team.

Engineer coming out this friday morning, so all sounds good!

Btw, if I want to add evening calls onto this package at some point (say in a month or two if I decide I'd use them), can I do this? And how much would it be?

    Thanks,

    Graham.
  • wow! i just managed to get this offer too! had to call several times though as I kept getting cut off and I was initially told that there is no such offer but it was worth trying again. I have to wait 3 weeks to be connected though but I am not complaing!!

Does anyone know how this would work with moving home?
Say I sign up for the 18months deal, get the free installation and make the 10 calls per month, yet I move on in 6 months time, can I transfer the line to the new address with no penalties?

Also, do the 10 calls have to be a specific length?

    Thanks
  • Good Morning All

Does anyone (Jon) know when this offer will finish?

The reason I ask is because we have signed contracts for a new house but we are not moving in until 01.02.10

But we have access to the property already.

So; can I go ahead and book the new phoneline and then add internet etc on shortly before we move in???
    Stuart
