Free BT installation deal discussion

Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked before....I'm pretty sure that our house used to have a BT line (its got the wire between the house and telegraph pole) but there's nothing I can see indoors. Does this mean I can't get the deal or will I be ok? We're currently all Virgin Media and I'd probably keep that for the time being at least.
Thanks, Dave0 -
As far as having nothing BT indoors you can still get the offer. But are you saying you want to keep the Virgin line too???charliewilde wrote: »I'm pretty sure that our house used to have a BT line (its got the wire between the house and telegraph pole) but there's nothing I can see indoors. Yes, sounds daft I know but the Virgin is a bundle that works for us but I'm under pressure to look at different broadband. I had bad customer service experience with BT about 20 years ago and have refused to consider them again so I may be prepared to double up for a while. Maybe time actually is a great healer! I'm not sure how I'll go yet but paying out £122 isn't on the agenda.0 -
Well I'm not sure if you can do both so can't say whether it's do-able or not. But we've just done the exact same thing and dumped Virgin phone for BT as Virgin was considerably more expensive and we also had no BT hardware in the house, or even an old line to the house itself, and we got the free install no problem at all (just be vigilant if you go for it though and make sure you get put on the right package as they WILL try to automatically put you on one of the more expensive packages). Apart from a brief line fault just after install which was sorted within hours we've had no problems with BT (touch wood :silenced: )charliewilde wrote: »Yes, sounds daft I know but the Virgin is a bundle that works for us but I'm under pressure to look at different broadband. Offer is still running, just called and spoke to the "Customer Options Team" as advised....they were originally going to do me a "great deal" and waive the £122.50 if I signed up to the TV/Phone and Broadband package.....luckily I checked here before committing

Great thread as we are moving into a new house new build in Jan and I was going to pay the 122 quid as I did not fancy getting sky to do it. The BT all in package is only a couple of quid dearer than Sky the only problem is the lack of free calls to the USA but I can sort that out as well i am sure.
One question. Do you know if you get many choices over your phone number? We are moving only 3 miles but its a different area code and I would quite like to try and get a semi easy to remember number for a few reasons.
Thanks

Hi, has this just changed as i have just phoned and was told they will no longer do it unless moving from another company, i asked from when and they lady told me it changed on Saturday.
Has anyone else had this since then or am i being fobbed off as really needed this as i have just bought my first house and money is really tight?
Many thanks0 -
As far as I'm aware from this thread the offer was extended till the end of december so may be worth another try (or two)ahappychappy wrote: »Hi, has this just changed as i have just phoned and was told they will no longer do it unless moving from another company, i asked from when and they lady told me it changed on Saturday.
