I've just come off the phone to BT and this offer worked great for me! Just moved to a new property and first rang up BT earlier on today to transfer my account over, they said BT wasn't connected at the new property so I would have to pay £122.50!! So came on here, found this, rang back and said I'd like to transfer my account to the new property using the 'New Line Free Connection Offer' and the woman sorted me out with a free connection charge and it's being installed at the end of the week! Great money saving :money:!!!

Does anyone know how this would work with moving home?
Say I sign up for the 18months deal, get the free installation and make the 10 calls per month, yet I move on in 6 months time, can I transfer the line to the new address with no penalties?
The woman I spoke to said you could transfer the account to a new address fine if you moved before the end of the contract.
  • Hi All

I have just spoken to a VERY nice lady (called Sue) at BT and even thought we are not moving until 1st Feb I still managed to get the FREE deal...

    THANK YOU MSE :T :T :T

Also, do the 10 calls have to be a specific length?

    Thanks

"5. Customers moving home and retaining an account with BT can take the remaining minimum term of their chosen calling plan with them. "

But you may depending on the circumstances be subject to a new connection charge as you can only apply for this special offer once in any 18 month period.

Their is no specific length required for the calls.
  • Can anyone clarify this for me. Can you get this offer on any of the plans? The BT website says its only on the anytime call plan.

    Hi Patrick

I got the deal yesterday on just BASIC line rental at £11.25PCM

So I guess the answer is YES...:j

  • Did you have to insist that the deal exists like other people needed to do? I'm really not good in those situations

If you get a numpty saying that, ask for the Customer Options Team (most of them appear to know about the offer) but, if you still get problems, hang up and try again.

Eventually (sad, I know) you will get someone with the necessary training and/or knowledge.

Bear in mind you do NOT need to take broadband, TV or anything else with this offer and you CAN opt for the lowest calls plan (the Unlimited Weekend Plan).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Oh don't worry apart from being anti social and not being able to ring companies i know what i'm doing. I'm planning to get my broadband from 02 since they are the est in my area. I'm going to use override providers aswell. Doing the whole shebang.

You'll probably be able to have it in a new position, you'll need to ask the engineer when he comes to install it (don't understand how there is a BT socket if the house has never had BT though???)

BT generally prefer builders to preinstall, as it means a development is discreetly wired, and a connection is just a simple exchange switch.. I gather BT pay towards the costs too - but the same facility is offered to Cable Companies, who rarely accept.
