  • Seems that if you take up the free reconnection offer, then you cannot take advantage of any of the other phone package offers.

Phoned BT about an hour ago on behalf of my parents. They wanted the £11.25 free evening and weekend calls, but were told that if they took up the free line reconnection offer then to get the equivalent 'deal' with phone calls, then this would cost them a further £2.95 per month.

    DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Just avoid BT like the plague. They are beyond incompetent.

We STILL have not got all of our phone/TV/broadband package yet despite starting out early July!
    'Highlights' include:
    • - 8 days without ANY landline at all (despite daily/hourly reminders) as BT did not test the line
    • - internet swopped over while we were out of the country as BT ignored previously agreed swop date. Travel vouchers lost, vital work e-mails lost, internet address book lost etc etc
    • home hub does not work properly to upstairs computer, BT support staff tried to sell us a games package instead of giving installation advice
    • - tv switchover was overlooked in early July so we have to wait till early September for more than the 5 basic channels (ie throughout the school holidays. Analogue is being phased out here so we might be without any tv soon!)
    • - appalling call centre service, including DH being threatened with legal action (for refusing to pay for services we have not had)
    • - one man actually talked about compensation (for the costs of mobile calls, internet cafes, disruption etc etc) and said he was putting us through to the person who could authorise it - then that person knew nothing about it
    • - repeated promises to call us back ignored (we were told Sunday we would be phoned Monday HA HA HA)
The latest totally un-funny BT joke: the broadband bill arrived addressed to oldest son

Just use another company, no matter how good BT's offer is, you will pay for it in abject misery and sheer frustration.

  • Hi,

Sorry if this question has already been answered.

I am lookinn to call BT this afternoon and arrange a new phone line to be installed and get this offer. If I was to go for the unlimited weekend calls (or any other one) can I make the 10 calls needed for this offer at the weekend? Or will this not count as my chargeable calls?

It's chargeable OR inclusve calls - so yes.

However, you DO need to make one chargeable call in order to retain the inclusive weekends calls (it's a bizarre swings, roundabouts and hoops requirement).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I've recently moved in a property and connectted to O2 broadband because the previous tenants were with BT. After he moved out, my current housemate switched to talk talk without asking me (O2 broadband customer services email me that my account will be cancelled soon becuse BT is ceasing). So, I've contacted with BT to install a second line and they told me an engineer would visit my property in 2 days. Now, I''ve been waiting him for 3 days.

You'll get used to it, unfortunately:

    - We were 8 days without a landline that worked (BT assured us it was...),

    - we have waited since early July for the BT tv box (now due 1st week of September...possibly )

The only thing BT are quick at is cutting off your internet, they did that 3 weeks early!

We were told that our complaints were being taken seriously & they would get back to us right away .... A WEEK AGO
