I had no idea about avatars on this site until Doozergirl mentioned them on PN's....so did a bit of very amateur hunting around UserCP.

Is the thread going to lock now for going off topic?

Wonder when Dervish will back? Perhaps she's watching telly.....

Please keep this thread on topic. You may disagree with what the OP is posting, but it is not necessary to descend this into a petty chat thread. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether you agree with them or not.

This is a very thorny issue. Unchecked immigration (especially the economic kind) has put untold strains on British society with many empluers simply going for the cheapest option in employing cheap immigrants rather than British workers,

This has led to many British people losing their jobs and has caused huge social unrest in places like Oldham, Burnley, Manchester etc.

How can we dis-incentivise employers from taking the cheap and easy option of foreign workers?

so if foreigners cannot work here would you want foreigners investing in the UK or would this be dependent on the colour of the investors skin?
Islamic finance is slowing as the global financial crisis hits its hubs in Malaysia and the Gulf, but the sector now has a chance to move on to Western economies seeking to boost their financial centres.

what has skin colour got to do with it?

You may well judge a person by what colour they are but most sensible people do not... So you only want white immigrants, is that it?

i think that you're a confused individual or someone who comes on to this board to get a reaction by posting contraversial stuff - let's look at a couple of your previous posts, it will tell a lot by the person that you are...

a good example of the excellent things that the British Empire did for the people in India, Africa, Canada, Asia etc.

And now a lot of those immigrants come over here and seek to destroy the superb legacy we agve them.

exactly. Now furthering this, what does country of birth have to do with it? If you were brought to UK, s child, for example, have a ''cultural'' nationality of British, have worked and paid taxes here...why is that less valuable than a born and bred Brit, with a lack of apprecitiong for our acccess to education and health resources, who feels income is a right, who wants to behave badly and be on the take?

The issue is very complex and IMO is not native v immigrant. I would agree we have an issue that needs to be faced with resources...world wide infact, and that, ntion by nation, addressing immigration policies is PART of the solution. But closing the doors and looking inward only is NOT in UKs best interests now. IMO.

Furthermore, by approaching the subject with bigoted attitudes we find it is impossible to discuss the stuation more openly and discuss immigration issues, because they DO decend in to racist ridiculousness.

Can you answer one question, what will happen when all the immigrant workers reach retirement age, who will support them? or do we simply allow the population to rise again to help pay for an increasing number of OAPs?

It is possible that they will do what I did, and go home back to their roots. So after paying taxes in various countries and generally being a law-abiding citizen (well, fairly law-abiding...), I have returned home.

So, back here, law-abiding and paying taxes, haven't used NHS for 26 years, and will get a reduced Basic State Pension, a small Company Pension, and I've been deferring the BSP over the last 2 years (ie losing the pension I would have received to gain a small extra percentage for the future) - so have been saving the Country quite a bit of money over the years.

Perhaps if we look at the emigrants who return home, we can see that cross-border working is pretty advantageous to each other's countries.
