There seems to be be a mixed opinion about this guitar from all types of players and beginners. I bought this guitar pack for my 11 yr olds birthday in September, being desperate for a guitar as he plays the violin (grade 4) and piano (grade 3) he wanted a "cool" instrument to play.
He has quickly taught himself lots of pop songs which he plays brilliantly. The amp is loud enough to be realistic for him and not too loud to annoy the household. He has had it for 3 months now and it's going really well, there are no plans to upgrade to a better kit just yet. If he joins a band etc... then we might consider it but with already buying him a piano, several violins of various sizes and he now wants fencing gear ontop, this guitar kit is fantastic value for money and unless you are buying it for a guitar virtuosso it is just the ticket.Irony.

Help !!!!!
My 14 yr old son wants to learn to play so im thinking about getting him one of these for xmas.
The only problem is that he is left handed !!
I s this a problem for him ,and would he still be able to learn on this guitar ?
Somebody told me he would need to get a left handed guitar ( but i dont know if this is a wind up coz i know nothing about them )
Can anyone shed any light on this !
Thanx.0 -
It is possible to play a RH guitar left handed but there are a few issues and it is not an ideal way to start. The biggest problem, particularly on a Strat is that the controls will be at the top of the guitar and therefore in the way, they will be getting knocked all the time or you would have to develop an awkward playing technique to avoid them. The nut at the top of the fretboard would also have to be converted to LH and that is best left to a repairman and will cost about £20 (Do not try that yourself, especially if you don't know what you are doing). It is possible to play however and there are famous guitarists who play RH guitars left handed, Jimi Hendrix and Tim Armstrong (Rancid) being two of the best known.
If your son really likes a challenge there are also Left Handed guitarists who have learnt to play Right Handed. However this would be like a RH person learning to play LH and is not an easy thing to do.
As an alternative to the Ebuyer kit, have a look at the Thomann website. They are in Germany but I have bought from them several times and would highly recommend them. They only charge 15 Euro for shipping and as they are in the EEC there are no import duties or VAT to pay. They have a LH outfit for 118 euros which is £79.06. It can be found here http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_gitarrenset_g45_lh.htm
and looks good value.
Good luck,

Do you definitely know that he plays guitar left handed?
I write with my left hand but play guitar right handed. (But then I also play tennis right handed. But Snooker left handed. I'm not exactly a good test subject in that respect.)
Anyway - make sure you know for sure before ordering, basically.0 -
My daughter is left handed. She tried to learn to play right handed and failed. She now has a Westfield strat copy and feels much more comfortable with it.
If there is a resonablly priced left handed guitar available then I would go for that - It's probably going to be easier to play, and because they are relatively rare they might hold their value better when selling on or trading up.0 -

This place does left handed guitars. They are very helpful too. We bought our childrens violins from here.Gus~Honey~Bun

In my opinion you are better off getting a Fender Squire Stratocaster or a Yamaha Pacifica 012 or 112 either 2nd hand from ebay (about £70) or from Argos or Toys R Us brand new. That ebuyer one is rubbish.
£54 is still a lot of money to spend on junk.0 -

Wow how helpful & that's good solid advice. So people should disregard the opinions in here & the reviews of people on ebuyer who actually have one & heed your abrupt advice.
Nice one.desrever sthgir lla0
