Is mine faulty? It just arrived today.

I switched the amp on and it started humming loudly. Nothing plugged in.

I've screwed in the tremolo arm in, plugged the cord into the guitar and into the Input socket on the amp. But all I'm getting is that humming noise.

I tried plugging the guitar into the Phone socket on the amp. That stopped the humming but I'm still getting no sound.

    Any idea's anyone?

My Amp only "hums" a lot when the distortion is switched on and turned up quite high. If you have made sure that the volume knob on the guitar is turned up and its still not working, then either the amp is faulty or the connecting wires in the guitar are. A sure fire way to tell will be to plug one end of the lead into the amp and listen to the amp as you plug the other end into the guitar. If the sound changes a bit on the amp (like static as you plug it in) then it sounds like its the guitar. If the amp sounds exactly the same then most likely it will be the amp.

i know this sounds a bit cheeky but with all you guitat players on - Does anybody know of a good deal on a practice amp? I bought the guitar but it's just getting dusty now!!
I need some inspiration to start playing.

Behringer amps are great value for money. And they are certainly loud enough for home/garage use

My 50W Marshall valve combo is too loud for home use, but is great fun in more space.

It's always worth looking for practice amps 2nd hand, and many folk buy them to learn then give up.

    Cheers

Maybe ok for a young kid at a push (it is a kids guitar).

I wouldn't buy it, if I wanted my kid to learn guitar I would buy a small bodied PROPER guitar so they can continue using it as they get older.
  • Netto are selling a full size electric guitar with amp for £49.99 from Thursday 28th Sept.
Also there is a guitar stand for £4.99.

    More info

If you can't see the page then go to https://www.netto.co.uk and click on their offers.

The link from the start of the thread is supposed to take you to the red guitar and amp for £54.99. It redirects you to the blue version which is going for £49.99.

The Netto one is exactly the same as the blue one via the original link on the 1st page, albeit a different colour.
