Bank: RBS
Amount Reclaimed: £1,050.00
Amount they paid: £1,050.00
The story:
Wrote in June this year. They wrote back asking for more and more information - all of which I could supply.
Rang them and sent letters chasing them all the time.
Finally got letter of offer of full amount - signed it, sent it back and it was in my account this morning.
Total time 3 and half months.
Thank you so much MSE - this is an awful lot of money which I thought was gone!
Good luck everyone else with your claims xTotal Quidco earnings - £547.98

No priority debt arrears.
The gentleman lives on benefits (DLA, Income support) and lives in rented accommodation paid for in full by Housing benefit, council tax is exempt.
His debt amounts being overdrawn to the tune of £4000 and has repayment plans in place to pay off old debts to mobile phone companies.
Thanks0 -
Did the mobile phone companies make charges to the account? No priority debt arrears.

Did he have any store card/catalogues charges to reclaim?0 -
I have received an offer letter today from Natwest- for the full amount I was claiming, under financial hardship- which I am very pleased about.
However I have 1 concern.
After speaking to them on the phone today, I asked how they will refund the money. And as my account is still open, I was told the money will be refunded back into my account.
Currently, my account is £90 over my overdraft limit.
If the money is paid back into there, I am worried they will remove my overdraft and hence I will not be able to get the money? I was told by the woman on the phone they won't do this. Is this true?
Another slight concern, is I have a student account, with a free student overdraft. But I am no longer a student as of this summer, but have not informed my bank yet. Could they have already removed my overdraft because I have had it for 3years?
Can I request they pay it by cheque or anything?
What is the best thing to do? I am just worried I won't be able to get the money.0 -

No store cards or catalouge charges.
Phones - at one stage (due to poor mental health) he had SIX mobile phone contracts on the 3 network.
All were on direct debit and each one was putting him further into debt due to the cost of the contract and the charges that the bank were imposing when the direct debits were not paid.
This appears to have happened from January 2007 to August 2007.

Well, still not heard back. Tried to phone Halifax yesterday but just got passed around and no answer as I was phoning in my lunch break from work. Getting very desperate, have £12.86 to last until end of the month, not apid rent, council tax or utilities. Benefits (eg child benefit, WFTC) on hold until I get my new account details - which have been held up because of the postal strike.
I know I'll get through this somehow, but can not see the light at the end of the tunnel yet!!0 -
Bank: Barclays
Amount Reclaimed: £850
Amount they paid: £900
How long did it take:2 months
Just want to say thanks to all the people who post on these forums. I sent in a claim using the letters and info on this site. I checked my balance 2day and Barclays have given me a "good will" payment. I claimed under financial hardship due to a reduction in hours after having a baby. The process was quite simple and I have had no problems in claiming. I would encourage anyone who can to have a go at claiming.
It's the credit cards next!!!! :j0 -

If you had read the transcripts of the case you would know why it was taking so long and there will be more litigation to follow even if the OFT win the case at the Supreme Court.hi there,i am getting next to zero help from the halifax,i havebeen to the ombudsan and explained i am in danger of losing my home, sent letters and bills and atotal breakdown of my money and was offered a month without bank charges and £100,this is disgusting as my morgage has doubled now and the halifax are crippling me with charges, why the courts are taking so long is beyond me!!!!!!

No reply from Halifax as yet. My landlord says I have to pay rent by the weekend or she will begin eviction for non-payment!!
Did have a letter yesterday from Halifax though saying that they are reucing fees from December 2009 to £5 for the day (no limit to number of items!) and they will up my overdraft! I don't need it then I need it done now!
Still no news on Right of Appropriation for tomorrow. Not looking forward to the possible confrontation I will get at my local branch! The woman cashier is horrible. Fed up with fighting0
