    Hi All,

just an update of my claim with alliance and liecester, sent off my claim due to hardship on 23 august, had usual i & e forms sent out to me, sent them back via recorded delivery on the 14 september. My claim was for 2600, telephoned them on 22 september to see how it was progressing, was told it would be 56 days til they decide, but on checking my online banking just now, £701.36 has been put in today?:T :T:T is this a part payment from them, was hoping to have the entire £2600 back? I have not received any communication off them at all?

Has anybody , who have claimed off A&L had this occur to them??

    Hi mate

I wrote to A&L too, yesterday my account was credited with £292.00. I'd asked for £520.00. Not sure, like yourself, if this is full payment, or if they're gonna pay the rest. Hope it's the latter!
  • Hi All

First I would like to say thankyou thankyou sssooo sssssoooo much :money::rotfl::T:T:Tmoneysaving expert, for giving me the tools to help myself without you I and thousands of others would have never had the confidence or the knowledge to fight back.

My original claim for bank charges was request from HSBC in July 2007, but due to unemployment I decided to send a letter for financial hardship regarding my circumstance, I waited 3 days after sending my letter then called them I explained to the dept the hardship I was having, they then sent me a financial summary form which they asked me to fill out,

I filled it and called them again, I spoke a member from the dept, who could see from my income and expenditure in my account that I was in need, he then statd that he would pass all the info to the payment section who would give me a discision, 3 days latter I recieved a call from HSBC who stated that the would give me the full amount owed of £2290 without interest and I could request this again after the court case

The turn around for the financial hardship was approx 2 wks, so if your in the same boat stick with it and good luk god bless

Hi all, just an update, recieved a letter off A&L this morning, it was as I guessed, a part payment to my claim to ease my financial worries, and the rest will be payable once the test case is finalised. also going to reverse the £70 of charges that they were going to take from my account today,

this will help big time, i know it is not the full amount claimed, but thankful for a breathing space from money worries.

thanks everyone, and good luck everyone

    Original Claim - £4700 NOW NEAR £5000

Have been offered £500 due to me being in financial hardship. Wrote to halifax and just spoke to them on the telephone as i have arrears totalling £2000. They said that the offer was final and that i should accept. They will re-look at the case once the test case is over. Really disappointed as this payment will take very little stress away !! Is that it now ?? Good luck everyone else !!

Received a letter today from the council tax people,, its a court summons for later this month. Do you think i could get Halifax to up there offer so at least i can get this £800 arrears payed off ?? im at my wits end and really dont know what to do any more. I have payed £5000 in charges in 3 years and £4000 in my overdrafts with halifax and £1000 in arrears. ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED,, THANKS. Dan:rolleyes:

Apologies Dan, was about to answer the post this morning and would have missed the bus for work if I had.
I think you need to accept the offer(it is not a full and final settlement of your claim just the hardship element) and ask them if they would consider a higher amount since you have received a court summons for Council tax and include a copy of it.
Furthermore, count the charges since a lifestyle event reduced your income e.g, unemployment, loss of overtime etc, etc, and ask them for an amount which would equal the amount of charges since your income dropped.

Under financial hardship any payment is an interim one and does not effect the rest of the amount owed to you.

The above is the MSE guide which I think could be better. If you can tell me which bank I can add a lot more to it, I hope, so that you avoid delays.
Do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage.rent, council tax, utilities)?

  • Put in a claim with First Direct in 2007 and received £5125.00. I closed down the account but put in a claim for £722 before I left. This, like all others was put on hold, I wrote to them in June asking for the refund as we were in financial difficulty - they sent the I & E form which I completed and returned to them with proof of arrears on my mortgage.
On 23rd September I received a letter offering to pay £308.50 off my mortgage arrears (directly) and stating the remainder of my claim would still be looked at in the future. I accepted.

I do get the occassional twinge of guilt for taking all this money off the banks, after all it is my own fault for being rubbish with money!!!! (It doesn't last long though!!)

Thanks again Martin you're a life saver (or should that be a "home" saver, ha ha)

Well, becuase of the delays in the post I've had to pay my salary cheque into Halifax, so they have all of my money now. I also tried to give the cashier my Appropriation letter, but she informed me that I would need to go to a bigger branch to do this (nearest is 45 miles each way) I told her no, she refused to send letter or call head office to find out what to do. I sent the letter by special delivery yesterday.

I've told them that I want the cash to be made available on 9th October at my local branch. I will phone on Tuesday to check that this money will be available. What should I do if they do not accept my Right of Appropiation?

They have still not replied to my 3rd hardship claim and expenses form, rent has now not be paid so another debt to add. My landlord is really hassiling me for the money (which I totally understand), phoning mobile and work, and emailing me for the money so I don't know what I can do about this. Council tax now has not be paid, nor has my car insurance so can not drive my car to and from work!

I would love to have the address for the chairman of Lloyds and HBOS as the other person on here did. Going to send yet another letter tomorrow.

Really had enough of this, found out my charges in September were £744!! Think I'm up to about £1500 and more now since April 2009 in charges.

Also sent a letter to the FSO yesterday and my local MP!
