Bank Charges Financial Hardship Success Stories

I originally started the re-claiming process of bankcharges incurred with Natwest over a year ago, then the courts put everything on hold, since being made redundant I went down the financial hardship route and my claim was accepted, my bank charges came to £5600 and I received a letter today offering me £949! I am very disappointed and want to know what I should do next? The bank has told me that once the courts have made their ruling, if there is any monies owing to me I will receive this, but I am still not happy with the amount they are offering now, can I do anything else, or should I just accept their offer?0

Can you explain why you are unhappy with £949.00?
How much of that will alleviate or make easier your financial situation today?0 -
Hi,
Does anyone know if I can claim financial hardship retrospectively. I was in hardship and bills were regularly bouncing, I was getting bank charges of £90 a month at one point, then barclays sorted out a resolve loan to clear my overdraft. Two thirds of this loan amount is equal to the charges they've put on me over the years. I'm no longer getting these charges, and am just managing to pay everything without further charge. But these are now a debt which I'm trying to pay off. Can I claim that I was in financial hardship from 2004 to 2009 and then get my claim going. Or do I have to currently be in hardship?
thanks0 -
Hi NatWestStaffMember
No I don't as yet have priority debts. Do you mean any utlities etc? Although, I owe electric (which I've told them), and tomorrow will be my council tax, I'm also now getting charges from missing payments for my credit card and catalogue statements.
One catalogue has now sent me a demand for the full amount owing as I have missed September's payment0 -

Bank: Halifax
Accounts: 2
Amount claimed: £5995
Amount paid :£5995
I first came to Martins claim site 3 years ago and immidiately started my claim I was determined not to accept less than I was claiming and pushed by sending a letter every week not accepting their NO WAY and their threats to close both my accounts, I even sent the then chairman a letter to his home address threatening him with a personal county court appearance, I entered the paperwork on-line several weeks prior to the hold agreement and only after the paperwork had been delivered did they negotiate but by then the letter to the chairman paid dividends as his personal secretary called and offered the full amount the same day if I agreed not to write to the chairman again (amazing I only sent 1 letter:rotfl:) Sucess but then I recieved a letter asking me to sign to say I would not disclose the agreement to the public, but as the money had been paid in and transferred out by me I wrote back saying I would sign for a contractual fee of £100,000 I never heard back!! Now it is the turn of Abbey/Santander and I have today recieved the home address of their uk chairman my claim is for £2793 I'll keep you posted.:T0 -
Hi All,
just an update of my claim with alliance and liecester, sent off my claim due to hardship on 23 august, had usual i & e forms sent out to me, sent them back via recorded delivery on the 14 september. My claim was for 2600, telephoned them on 22 september to see how it was progressing, was told it would be 56 days til they decide, but on checking my online banking just now, £701.36 has been put in today?:T :T:T is this a part payment from them, was hoping to have the entire £2600 back? I have not received any communication off them at all?
Has anybody , who have claimed off A&L had this occur to them??0 -
:TWhen I put in a claim for Financial hardship, within 3 months, I received a cheque for the sum of £1,400 from The Abbey. This payment was in relation to charges made by The Abbey to my account in the 12 months before my claim went in. I was told that other charges in the earlier 5 years will be looked at the end of the ongoing legal battle.
Thanks Martin. Much needed cash.0 -
Original Claim - £4700 NOW NEAR £5000
Have been offered £500 due to me being in financial hardship. Wrote to halifax and just spoke to them on the telephone as i have arrears totalling £2000. They said that the offer was final and that i should accept. They will re-look at the case once the test case is over. Really disappointed as this payment will take very little stress away !! Is that it now ?? Good luck everyone else !!
Received a letter today from the council tax people,, its a court summons for later this month. Do you think i could get Halifax to up there offer so at least i can get this £800 arrears payed off ?? im at my wits end and really dont know what to do any more. I have payed £5000 in charges in 3 years and £4000 in my overdrafts with halifax and £1000 in arrears. ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED,, THANKS. Dan:rolleyes:0
