I am currently claiming from HSBC through bank-smart as i didn't find this site until after i'd started. I have just had my claim forwarded to FOS as HSBC have not responded to my claim for hardship. Has anyone else used bank smart, does anyone know how long it takes once the ombudsman is speaking to the bank??? Any response would be welcomed
I was under the impression that CMC claims could not go through the FOS....I will clarify this I think.

    Bank: Barclays
    Claimed: £4000
    Offered: £1400
How long did it take: 3-4 weeks

    Hi all,

Started my claim in 2007 which was then stayed 2 months before my court date. Claimed under the hardship guidelines 3-4 weeks ago and have just had £1400 put in my account as a goodwill gesture.

Any ideas whether I should accept this or has anyone had success in calling their bank to push them for more? Seems that some people get their entire claim, or even more, while others get less than half...

    Thanks!

I suspect others may not have included all their charges which is why they get more than they have claimed. Financial hardship can be very different so different responses are given. That is a good offer though.

  • BANK: The Coventry
    AMOUNT RECLAIMED: £140
    AMOUNT REPAYED: £140

Story: I had been with The Coventry for three years and although its not a lot of money its was mine all the same.I was watching martin on GMTV talking about being able to reclaim bank charges so i visited his site and followed his instructions and used the template letter. I called my bank who were very helpfull and sent me a list of charges incurred over the three years at no cost to me( impressed as some banks charge for this) i sent the highlighted charges along with the template letter to my bank on the saturday and the money was back in my account the same day they got the letter!(following tuesday!!) The only thing they wont do is stop putting these charges onto my account detailed in the template but hay its a good start. So anyone thats thinking of doing this should go for it, although not everyone gets their money back straight away its worth chasing, after all the money they have taken is yours.

A VERY BIG THANKYOU TO MARTIN LEWIS FOR THE INFO

AND GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE IN THE PROCESS ; )

Ok, lets go back a step or two. Did you write to Lloyds TSB and what response did you get?
Are you in financial hardship and do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?
Are the arrears being paid off?

I wasn't aware that a CMC could refer hardship cases to the FOS. However, unless you have a response from HSBC then you could be waiting months and months.
