    When I claimed back from the Clydesdale Bank both of my accounts were closed and had been for years, so why is it RBS wont offer?
    When did you claim back the charges? Was it before July 2007?

    Chances are good perhaps. Do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities) that are not part of any payment arrangement for the arrears?

    no it was september last year.
  • FSA advice sent to all firms as of March 2009

    "v. Firms to provide a range of measures to support customers, and to treat them
    positively and sympathetically. These might include; help and guidance about
    dealing with FD and avoiding charges; suspending collections and recoveries activity;
    suspending the accrual of further interest and charges; and a consideration of a refund
    of charges, in particular where the charges may have added to the FD during, or
    immediately before, the period of FD.
    The rationale for why a particular level of
    refund has been given should be documented and clearly explained to the
    complainant."

    Are any of those arrears part of any payment plan?

    yes I do have priority debts, rent arrears, council tax arrears and utility bill arrears, have a payment plan for my rent arrears as was threatened with eviction, council tax arrears is going to court,have other debts which are not priority, just dont know what to do, money i am trying to claim would help to clear the priority debts.

    OK, give them a call tomorrow and make them aware that although they have sent an offer that you have a council tax arrears notice that is going to court and whether they can review the offer they have made.
    The other ones are not that bad because you have payment plans in place but the council tax one is URGENT. Is the account still open and being used by you?

    The account is still open but I do not use it anymore as I have a separate account with them, I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. Will keep you posted as to how it goes, Thanks very much for your advice, it really helps to have someone to advise you on which way to go. You are a saint
