  • I would just like to say a big Thank You to Martin. I would never have thought about this before. I claimed £4400 off them under the hardship clause and today I have a cheque for £3089.70, with the proviso that they will pay the difference if told by the court to do so. Great and it only took 3-4 months. So thank you again Martin.

    Amount claimed: 1,800
    Received: 1,420
    Time taken: 2 months!

I've been claiming against Barclays, wrote a few letters last year but then the case was put on hold.

Recently wrote a new letter to Barclays out of desperation, I'm on SSP and times are tough! Never thought it would work but it did!

    THANK YOU MARTIN!

And my friend Kelly who told me about this site

I started my original claim back in November 2007 but decided to go through the hardship route at the start of this year due to financial difficulties. RBS wrote back saying i didnt fit the hardship rules but i appealed and won.

My original claim back in 2007 was for £1300 and expected to perhaps get an offer of half of this, i have continued to receive bank charges since this date and was over the moon when i got my offer in for the full amount claimed, plus additional charges since my first claim plus interest.

Overall amount offered was £2200. Cant complain with that, been a long battle but def worth it in the end.

  • Just thought would let you know I have succesfully recieved the last 2 months charges from Aliance and leciester! And for those people whos benefit goes into your account, there is a little know act, which I was told about today at the local job centre plus office! Its called the Social Security administration act 1992 (chapter 5)! It basically means in simple terms if you have £90 benefit going into your accout no matter what the status is, the bank are not allowed to take their charges! So I called the A&L and within mins some of the charges were credited back to my account! They are also reviewing the other charges I am in the process of claiming back! I will be contacting the Clydesdale too........ as they also have been extracting their charges over the last few years. Just something to bare in mind for those people struggling on benefits and being robbed blind and put further into debt by greedy banks. So get to the Job Cetre Plus Office and ask for a copy of SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINSTRATION ACT 1992 (.5) 1992 CHAPTER 5!

    Hi All

I just wanted to let you know that I have successfully managed to reclaim bank charges from Abbey - letter confirming refund has been received today :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

    Bank: Abbey
    Amount Reclaimed: £1459.00

    Amount they paid: £1459.00
How long did it take: claim submitted 17/03/09
Result received: 22/05/09 [how quick was that!]
The story: We are currently in a debt management plan with CCCS and Abbey were aware of that given that the plan included an old overdraft with them. We provided additional evidence under the hardship criteria as requested by Abbey. Received regular updates that they were looking into claim and received decision letter today. All of the money will pay off the outstanding balance owed to Abbey so whilst I cant run off to the shops  it will help to reduce our overall debt. :T

Thank you so much MSE and everyone who has helped me on this forum - I now have the confidence to approach HSBC to reclaim for hubby's bank charges. I doubt that it will be resolved as quickly as with the Abbey (having read some other postings about HSBC) but I can only try.

Keep going everyone - every little helps ;)

    Bank: rbs
Amount Reclaimed: £3134.37 (£4056.77 with interest)

    Amount they paid: £3324
How long did it take: a long time! aug 2007- may 2009
The story: originally claim in aug 2007, was put on the back burner when the court case started, thenin july2008 i filed for hardship and was denied... so i asked for criteria and was accepted! but then i was told i still had to wait till the outcome of the case.
anyway after seeing martin lewis saying that if they have accepted hardship they are obliged to finish dealing with the claim, so i wrote back about 3 weeks ago and gave them 14 days to respond, 2 days ago i got a letter saying an offer would be follow shortly, and today we got the letter with the offer. it also says that accepting this offer will not affect any future benefit after the court case, so it the court case turns out to be more beneficial to me they will reinburse me the remaining amount! so i cant lose!:j
thankyou ever so much to every one who i got information off, and to all those still waiting, good luck it can happen for you too!:T:T
