Bank Charges Financial Hardship Success Stories

Bank:- Barclays
Claim:- £500
Received:- £408
I was twice refused on financial hardship grounds, so i have done nothing for a year.
Then Martins latest email included new guidelines from the FSA, so i was off again.
In 2 days i received a cheque for £408.
The only arguement i made was that i regularly withdraw money on my credit card. It was as easy as that.
All my claims are now finished, although Barclays will still send me the remaining £90 + interest, if ordered to do so. I have now won every claim i started, including my friends claims.
Happy days
p.s Martin you are a star - many thanks once again.0 -
I received a letter today from Abbey to say that after careful consideration they were willing to refund £2970.45, which is all the charges I claimed, plus ,more that have been debited since I started the claim. This now leaves me with just £25 to pay, to clear the account, which wouldn;t of actually gone so bad if they hadn;t swiped my overdraft off me !!!!!
The whole process took about 8 weeks, and I am happy happy happy !!!0 -
Hi, I'm new to the bank charges reclaim boards but have had a successful reclaim for a PPI with Natwest and awaiting a decision from the FOS regarding a PPI reclaim against Loans.co.uk (its been with the FOS since January 2008 and still waiting!!!!)
I've just completed the first template for reclaiming bank charges but wonder if someone can confirm whether the date on the template (27th July 2001) is still the date reclaims go back to. Thanks in advance.

hi all, just looking for a bit of advice, started my claim in january under financial hardship for £1600. filled in all the forms they sent etc. They said we were not in financial hardship and were refering us to the money management team who they said would ring us. spent over an hour on the phone with them and they told us we were in financial hardship and we would be receiving a good will gesture and our bank charges (future) would be put on hold for the next 3 months letter in the post.
received this letter lawst friday offering me £70...... this is to cover charges in march 09. This isn't even in the time frame that i put my claim in for. I intend to ring them on tuesday, after the bh.Any suggestions on what to say to them would be much appreciated
thankyou0 -

If you have priority debts ie mortgage/rent, utilities, council tax arrears, then approach it on the basis of negotiation ie the offer is £70 and my arrears are £100 for example. The fact they are suspending charges for the next 3 months is a good start.0 -

We recieved the same letter this week but only for £35.00 and cancellation of any fees over the next 3 months, sounds like a standard reply.
But with the hardship which we do incur, we tick almost every box that is specified so we have sent off a letter to the FOS this week and hopefully we will soon get a response soon.
But I was lucky enough to speak to the person who sent this as their direct line is printed on the letter.
My reason for phoning her was to complain at the way I had been spoken to from secured collections RE my Morgage.
We have missed a few payments and had been allowed to pay interest only(£1917.54 in arrears)and wanted to set up a standing order online to help manage our money we have had to borrow £3,000 from our parents to help subsidise our excistence.
I had made a payment of £300 0n the 27th but on the 28th £400 had come out of our account this was money that was loaned to us to pay other bills so I complained and the money was re-imbursed to our account after 1 hour on the phone. I was happy but the same thing happened again the next day but then I met the telephonist from HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Every time I tied to explain what happened she continually spoke over me not allowing me to explain the circumstaces after about 20 minutes of this I asked to speak to a supervisor but she still would not let me or allow the money back into yhe account.
MMMy rage was clear for my wife to see and she tried to control my anger not once did I swear ( god I wish i could of given her what for ) but you feel as if you have to suck up to make anything happen so I let her have her say and put the money in the account but I got her name and asked if the call was being recorded she said it was and I did get her name but she said she was unable to give her full name.CAROL I wish it could of being a christmas carol full of goodwill for all men and WOMEN but also bankcharges reclaimed.
So I thought I would give the customer relations a ring and explain that HOW hard it is to make ends meet and the fact that I spend a daily vigil on the online banking trying to avoid charges and not to let us go further under.
She was apologetic for the telephonist took all the details and said she would get to the bottom of it as we did not deserve to be treated like this.
I also explained how the HARDSHIP is affecting us and she said she will again look into it!!.
I do not know but hopefully soon something will happen all I can say is CARRY ON and do not stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Good Luck eveyone!0 -
Been reading this post from the start, i've been rejected for hardship though i didn't include an expenditure form. I'm on with that now though.
