    Hi Sal

I KNOW!! We get married 9 weeks today and I fly out 8 weeks yesterday, Si flies out 8 wks Sat, we're so excited.

Its all going really well, BMs have started having their dresses altered and I have my final fitting on the 17th. I went in and sorted our UK party on Sunday so i'm sending out the invites at next week for that.

Got my mom sorting stuff in Spain, she's speaking to the cake lady today and going to buy material and things with our friend whos decorating our reception venue, so its all go for her.

Our numbers have gone huge, we've got 65 people going by coach to Gib and then coming back for the reception and about 110 people on the night...Thank god my mom and dad are paying for the spanish reception because we couldn't have afforded it with everything else. Si and I are paying for the party in England tho.

As far as I know you don't have to have to tell the registrar but if you find out otherwise let me know.

Your daughters emigrating? How exciting for her but sad for you! What colour dresses is she having now?

    Hi Chris,

We haven't planned the decorations for the reception yet - Latino's has been closed over the winter and been refurbished so Laura's friend is keeping an eye open to see if they open up over Easter so she can go down and see! They're closing off the restaurant area for the reception but because it's August they can't make the beach area exclusive but as we won't get down there until about 5 ish we reckon it won't be too bad as most people will be going home for dinner around then.
She's having this dress made in China (an ebay seller) in no. 41 here
    Hope those links work!
The UK reception is late afternoon so she can have photos in the garden till late with a hog roast about 6 ish followed much later by bacon butties!
It's going to be a very strange party :/

    Hey girls,
DD has asked me to check with you if she needs to notify the registrar here as well as the one in Gib about the wedding?

How are things going Chris - it's really close now!

DD has decided to have a cake, she's chosen individual cakes with a small 'top' cake from Kelvin & Mandy.
BM dresses are chosen, NOT the aqua/peacock blue! We've lost the 'invisible' bm but now sil 2b can make it so that's even better!
Booked the UK reception today - it's also her leaving party as she's got a new job teaching in the Cayman Islands! So now we're not only organising a wedding in Gib., a UK reception but emigrating as well! Doesn't do things by halves my darling daughter! lol

    Hi peeps

Glad to see things seem to be going well for you both.

You dont have to notify the registrar in UK, we did check with our local office and they said 'no you dont have to but can if you want to'. We didnt bother.

sal - You wont have problem with Kelvin and Mandy's they were brilliant,
and the dress is gorgeous. Hope she will enjoy her new job and that it doesnt seem too far away from you, just think about the lovely holidays when you visit!

cant believe its so close for you now Chris, ours seems like so long ago now. Wish I was heading back to Gib and the Costa this summer but we're off to the south of France which doesnt have the same appeal to me, especially when mum and dad are going back to Duquesa

Anyway good luck to you both

    Kaz
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

Thanks Kaz, I bet it does seem ages ago for you but at least you've got the wonderful memories.

I'm going underwear shopping today with my BM'd they're all quite booby so we're going to Bravissimo, should find somthing to hold them up there lol. Girly lunch first tho which will be lovely.

Thanks for answering the registrar question.

    Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd check in to see how everyone's doing.
How are you Chris, not long to go now - everything sorted?

Can I ask about Photographers? Have you booked a local photographer and if so, can you reccommend?

    Thanks.

    Hi Sal
I fly out in less than 2 weeks now, i'm cra**ing myself about this bloody ash cloud, they closed all the southern Spainish airports yesterday. Plan B is to drive down but I don't fancy that one little bit!

Yes I am using a local photographer, he's got the most amazing shop just down from the gardens, he's got thousands and thousands of pics of old Gib, I love going there just so I can spend ages looking through them all lol. He's got a special deal for pics at the Dell but I can't remember what it is, i'll find the paperwork and then you can email him.

I've been awake since 3:30 so I think the nerves are starting now.

Hows your daughters plans going Sal? xxxx

I know what you mean about the cloud - we sloped off for a weeks r&r on our own to Malta and the day we were coming home they closed Dublin Airport. When I heard that they'd closed Southern Spain I must admit I did panic a little - especially when I realised Insurance companies call it an 'act of God' or whatever the term is these days! It's Laura's birthday today so am not going to spoil it with such talk but if this stupid volcano doesn't start behaving we will have to face it! As a btw, I am regularly in contact with excited kids who are explorer scouts who've actually walked up that mountain whilst on a visit to Iceland last year - really doesn't help! lol
We're really frustrated actually, people who have said 12 months ago they're definately coming are now dithering and we still don't have a final number! On top of which s-i-l 2b's father has now decided he and step-mum aren't coming cos they can't afford it!!! They've known for 2 years for God's sake!
I'm stressing cos dd hasn't ordered her dresses yet and she's getting them from ebay so I'd rather they were here sooner rather than later just in case!
We've had to alter the flights out as her best friend from school days has just surprised us all with a wedding invitation, she's not around here anymore so we didn't know till she turned up with the invite but she's organised it all in a couple of months! The wedding is the Saturday after they were flying out so more money forked out to alter the flights but she just couldn't miss it.
We're trying to work out how the B&G are going to get from the Gardens to the Beach so I'm currently googling wedding cars - an expense that hadn't been budgeted for as the original venues were within walking distance.
I'd love the details of the photographer thanks,Chris.
I think I have an idea of how you're feeling - I can see many sleepless nights ahead! lol
I know it will be worth it.
    xx

    Aaaagh!!!!

DD has had a phone call this evening from her friend in gibraltar. She's moseyed on down to Latino's to see how the refurbishment was going and was confronted by extensive building and road works! It seems that the road (which was a dead end) is being extended to the border and they're building a new terminal for the airport so they have to incorportate a tunnel so the road can go under the airport!!!! :mad:This is really major works and she doesn't see it being finished by the wedding date, she was surprised the owner of Latino's hadn't been in touch to let us know.
So we're now researching alternative venues for the reception. Thankfully dd is not being bridezilla-ish about this, as far as she's concerned it doesn't affect the marriage ceremony which is in the gardens and that's the most important thing, we can always use one of the hotels. Friend suggested a new restaurant at the new ocean village it has a face book page so I've had a look and it all looks very nice but the two reviews posted do not fill me with confidence:(
And I thought we'd had such a successful day with the wedding plans!

I've been really stressed because of how big its got but now i'm just really really excited!

Think of me a week on Wed (2nd June) and keep you're fingers crossed that it all goes fab.

    Love Chris xxxx
