I am pretty chilled about it but I did think over 2 weeks without hearing anything was a bit odd! Especially in the non-wedding season!
I have 3 friends who are also getting married next year and they seem to have loads sorted and now i'm starting to feel too laid back lol! People keep looking at me strangely!:rotfl:
I was forced to choose a colour scheme the other week but I can't understand why! I only have one bridesmaid and nothing that involves colour schemes will be bought for ages, in fact I suspect I will change it before then anyway! :rotfl:0 -
Hi girls!
Well, the wedding is sorted!
DD and partner have decided to pull right back to immediate family and close friends at the numbers were getting a bit silly and we weren't entirely sure everyone would come anyway but we're still looking in the region of 30 people.
The wedding is at the gardens at 3 followed by a champagne reception whilst photo's are taken and then a beach party!!
We felt that there weren't enough people to do justice to Mons Calpe and when pushed dd still felt it was a 'bit formal' and mentioned a beach party, we looked into it and booked it!
The registry office was a nightmare to contact to change the time (she'd originally booked an evening wedding) we tried ringing in the time slot given on the tape but still got the tape, eventually I emailed and got an almost instant reply! Why didn't they answer the phone if they were there?
Off to sort out invitations now!0 -
Wow, Sal that sounds like so much fun!0

Hi Sal
Glad its all sorted at long last, it sounds lovely.
Our big day is only 4 mnths away, its coming round so fast. Mom's coming over on Thurs for a week so im going to use her to take some decs and things back to Spain for the reception.
Im flying over to moms in Feb for 6 days, i want to pay the gardens, the registrar, sort the flowers, the hotel for the night before and hairdressing appointments and finalise the reception - its all go lol.
Like you we'v had lots more people want to come than we ever imagined, so far 48 people are flying over!!!!!! Im so touched but its ever so slight scarey to know they are there for me and Si.
I cant believe how quickly the time is passing.
Anyway glad you are well. xxxx0 -
Hi Emmielou
Yes, now it's decided we're really looking forward to just chillihg out and relaxing together.
My daughter sort of got locked into what was expected and went along that path for a while and I think that's why it's taken so long to finalise things, deep down it wasn't what she wanted. When she finally saw that it was her day (and H2b of course) and it should reflect them the answer to the venue question was 'the beach bar'. She know Gib well as she has friends that live there and she visits frequently so knew exactly where she wanted so we rang them and they said 'yes'!
Chris,
It's getting very close! I hope things go smoothly from now on. DD's friend is coming over for a weekend in a couple of weeks so she'll be going home with a 'to do' list!
Laura's decided that she's going for silk flowers as there's going to be a reception back home so they can wear their outfits and carry the flowers so the other guests get the 'feel' of the wedding. We're going to sort them within the next couple of months and then send them on to her friend - along with the dresses and suits.
Hoping to book the flights soon and am busy researching car hire atm.
Any reccommendations of relaiable firms at Malaga airport?
Seeing Laura tonight to finalise invitations. Ooh it's all getting very final now! lol0 -

Hi glad alls going well with the plans.
We have booked several times through economycarhire.com who are a UK agent. last year when there were loads of problems in Spain with people turning up to find no cars etc we were worried but in fact had no problems. You still need to select a spanish firm to rent the car and we've used Auriga Crown. ECH also have someone from the uk office on 24 hour call should you encounter any problems. They told me last year that they pay their Spanish agents up front which is why they rarely encounter any problems obtaining cars. They are very good on price in comparison as well. Auriga also have an office in La Linea and my brothers have picked up in Malaga and dropped off in La Linea when flying in/out of different airports to get flights that suited their timings.
HTHMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Did I say all was going well?
We went to the wholesaler on Saturday to price up the silk flowers, mango cala lillies, and they didn't have any:eek: The girl at the counter was clueless and suggested spraying white ones the right colour (?) so I rang today to see if I could get an answer and they're not getting them in again:shocked:
So I've been trawling the internet today to see if I can find any. Plenty in the US (on the .com sites) but only orange (which isn't the same) in the UK unless you go on the florist sites where you can buy your boquets. Looks like we'll have to do that so more decisions for dd - oh dear!0 -
Anybody out there?
Flowers: we're now going with silk orchids.
Big news: dd has a new job, teaching in the Cayman Islands!!!! so it's wedding then pack up and go!
@ Herbiecat (Chris) do you know what the arrangements are for the bride, is there a 'walk in' and if so do you have an idea how long? OH is writing my dd's music for this and doesn't want to write an opus if a couple of minutes is all that's needed.
Any ideas would be a great help. xx
BTW we booked our flights today!0 -
Hi Sal
Theres 2 ways of walking in down some stairs or down a path, the steps are stunning and i'm walking in that way..Im having my dad waiting at the bottem tho because knowing him he'll fall down lol. Iv got no idea of timings tho..email Pat and see if shes got any ideas. Chuffed youv booked your flights, its exciting isnt it!
I was over there last week, it went really well. We paid for the hire of the Dell, the ceremony and marriage license, we arranged the mini coaches from the coach park to the Dell, the florist we were orginally using had shut down but I found another florist who seemed much better, they are more expenisve but Im really happy with them.
We also sorted the reception in Torrie, thankfully mom and dad are paying for this which is a massive relief for Si and I.
So far we have 65 people confirmed for the day and 110ish at night, its got loads bigger that we thought it would, Simon and I can't believe that so many people want to celebrate our special day.
Theres only 12 weeks left for us!!!0 -
Hey girls,
DD has asked me to check with you if she needs to notify the registrar here as well as the one in Gib about the wedding?
How are things going Chris - it's really close now!
DD has decided to have a cake, she's chosen individual cakes with a small 'top' cake from Kelvin & Mandy.
BM dresses are chosen, NOT the aqua/peacock blue! We've lost the 'invisible' bm but now sil 2b can make it so that's even better!
Booked the UK reception today - it's also her leaving party as she's got a new job teaching in the Cayman Islands! So now we're not only organising a wedding in Gib., a UK reception but emigrating as well! Doesn't do things by halves my darling daughter! lol0
