Yes we too will going to Pollensa in June. Went there a couple of years ago in October and really enjoyed it. I know we are going at a busier time of year but there should be more going on like boat cruises etc.
Looking forward to it.0 -
easyJet are starting direct flights to Santorini from Gatwick this summer, so they're on the way!
There are plenty British tourists on Santorini. But the Chavs/Charvas tend to stay on the beach resorts on the east of the island. You'll avoid them if you stay on the other side which has little or no beach, but is more dramatic as it's the side of a volcanic crater.0 -
I'll be in Egypt in a fortnight - not expecting much in the way of chavs there ( Luxor and Cairo) , well, right up until we finish off in Sharm - apparently Russians are the problem there! - Eating all the food, wanting all the sunbeds, pushing in, drinking copious amounts etc. Sounds chavvy to me."There is a light that never goes out"0

So, please define a 'chav' for me.
I am not a snob and I haven't got a rooted dislike of my countrymen/countrywomen.
However, if I go to a foreign country I do my best to see as much as I can of that country, and that means eating its food and talking to its inhabitants, even trying out a little bit of its language. I have no interest in eating fish and chips etc in a hot climate.
I realise I'm a bit strange - I'm one of the few people who flew by Virgin Atlantic to Orlando, Florida to visit my sister who lived within a spit and a whistle of all the Disney sites, and I never went to any of them!!!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -
Hiya,
I dont want to come across as a total snob but I am looking to book a holiday in either June or August for a week for me and my fiance which isnt too expensive but is relatively chav-free.
We went to Cyprus last year and were totally horrified by how mainstream it was, it was full of English bars/cafe's restaurants with Carlsberg beer advertising absoloutely everywhere! We even paid 400euros to come home a week early and gave up the 2nd week of our holiday!
OMG yes i went to Cyprus for the first time last year and hated it. Wont be going back.
Think of it this way, chavs love loads of noise. Choose somewhere quiet and with a lack of crappy nightclubs or similar. If airtours go there, its usually a bad sign.0 -
I just posted this in another thread. Northern Spain. Forget any idea that it might be like the Costas.
All the coast of Cantabria and Asturias is beautiful. Comillas (about 40k from Santander) is a nice little place. Many lovely places to visit in the region. Santillana del Mar, where they still drive cows through the streets is picturesque. San Vicente de la Barquera and nearby beaches, Fuente De and the cable car in the Picos de Europa (mountains). Ah its all gorgeous, though a little more touristy than it used to be since they got a lot of cash from the EU. Still pretty unspoilt though i'd say. Not a chav in sight!0 -
We are staying over Easter at a friend's apartment in L'Escala, Northern Spain.
I will report back on its status, chav free :T, or chav over-run
However, knowing my friend I really think it will be chav free.0 -

Avoid AI hotels as that tends to attract the chavvier types who wish to load up on as much booze and crappy food as possible, avoid anywhere where the brochure/agent mentions " a lively nightlife" and always go long haul.0
