Chav-free holidays.... Do they exist?

Hiya,
I dont want to come across as a total snob but I am looking to book a holiday in either June or August for a week for me and my fiance which isnt too expensive but is relatively chav-free.
We went to Cyprus last year and were totally horrified by how mainstream it was, it was full of English bars/cafe's restaurants with Carlsberg beer advertising absoloutely everywhere! We even paid 400euros to come home a week early and gave up the 2nd week of our holiday!

We have been to Dubai and Sicily in the last few years which we absoloutely love but would like to go somewhere we havnt yet been without having to worry about it being 100% totally children or beer/football orientated!

Any helpful comments much appreciated- please do not bother leaving a comment if you enjoy the type of holiday I have just slated because I really dont care! Thanks :D
:j :jTotally and utterly debt free as of 27/05/09!!!:j :j

How about Moscow? Not too far for a week, or somewhere like copenhagen or stockholm?
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

Moscow sounds interesting- although I have heard you need some sort of visa?...

Although I am open minded in terms of where I go, my other half would prefer to go somewhere warm (shouldve put this in my thread! oops!).

sturll- I think you are probably spot on there mate! :rotfl:

I know what you are saying Lish.

Brits abroad fill me with horror. Try to avoid them whenever possible.

We usually find that the further away from the UK, or off the beaten track you can go, the less chavs you will find.

Reminds me of when I succumbed to family pressure last year, went to Salou  I purposely picked a hotel off tripadvisor with reviews saying ' no brits ' or ' the only people here are spanish '

You have to laugh though, Brits complaining that there are spanish holidaymakers in Spain

Where did you stay? Parts of Cyprus were like that more than a decade ago, before the term CHAV had been coined.

Also look for 'no english language telephone channels' in reviews.

Come to think of it, we did our first cruise last year, totally chav free it was :rotfl:

Also, have you thought about Malta ? Close to the UK, but seems to attract the more discerning types, of course you still need to pick your location carefully !

Madeira? We stayed in a hotel up above Funchal and it was absolutely gorgeous.

In most places it is probably down to the individual resort more than anything. Choose a smaller quieter resort and you might find it very different.
