Don't worry about starting the benefits discussion :) On THIS thread at least we can debate it and discuss it like adults :) Hopefully no-one gets offended by the oppinions aired so far because most of us try to put balanced views across even when we disagree :)
Nikabella - sorry to hear the bleeding has gotten worse :( I rarely comment on miscarriages because frankly I don't know what I can say to make people feel better... Only you can decide if you think a scan tomorrow is worth it or not - I think maybe assume the worst and then go for the NHS scan when they can fit you in - if it turns out that the bubs is STILL there then bonus... if not then you were expecting it. I would personally put that £70 towards really treating myself on a spa day or something if i "knew" that the worst had happened... but that's easy to say at 34+ weeks isn't it? :) If you want to know then you go along and find out hun :)

Depo... ok I have really strong views on this so feel free to ignore! :D
I've been on it twice now and I would advise extreem caution before going on it! I spent a couple of years on it initially - all honky dory and fine, then suddenly I balooned in weight... got taken off it and all was fine except the weight was VERY hard to loose... so I was on the pill for a couple of years - took ages to find one that could control my periods and especially the pains (the main reason I was on the depo in the first place). After a few years the doctors decided the best thing for me was to go back on the depo - my period pains were getting extreem again and the bleeding was very very heavy. I told them what happened last time and was told there was a slight chance of a small weight gain... (I pointed out that I didn't think 18lbs was small in just over 3 months but hohum).
I think I lasted 9 months on the depo the second time... Before I gained nearly 2 stone in 6 months - first look the nurse told me I must be eating too much... as I'd been on slimmingworld at the time for about 4 months I could actually show her my weight gain vs my meal plans (my leader was asking me for them weekly because I was gaining weight like there was no tomorrow!) and only THEN did she believe me - anyway more than 7lbs in 3 months means they won't jab you but refer you instead... so showed the same to my GP who immediately stopped me having any more Depo's... it took MONTHS to get my periods controlled again after coming off the jabs, i had 2 periods each month for about 4 months before we managed to control it. So... please do your research before going on it... it can play havoc with your system!

Krystal that's awful! I'd complain to the surgery manager about that to be honest! I've had student midwives in with my miserable MW and when they couldn't get blood from me then they referred me to the nurse the next day to have them taken instead. Now the student MW should have been able to get bloods if anyone could - she's re-training from being one of them people at hospitals that take bloods for a living ;)
And again I'd have had no problem with her trying to find heartbeat etc but the miserable one did them herself each time.
As for leaving your 34 week bloods till next time... uhmmmm surely they should be done at 34 weeks... that's what it states in my notes!

Take a deep breath and have some icecream chuck :)

    A vampire?! ;)

My OH has told me in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want any students treating me - this was after he read MFD's birth story about the student/junior trying to break her waters and leaving marks on Benjamin's head!

Mostly because he knows I don't have much patience and if someone doesn't get something right the first time that they ought to be able to do in their sleep he knows I'll freak out! :o

hahaha no not a vampire... phlembotomist or somethign like that...
As for trainee MWs at labour then that's a different matter - for exactly that reason :) I don't want Roo having marks from them trying to break waters either so trainees are allowed but they AIN'T poking or prodding when I am delivering! :D

Oh poor Krystal, I actually agree with these guys now, ice cream is the cure for all ill's :D Midwives are like cooks, too many spoil the broth! Also like buses, no point in there being more than one.

Just got a trollock on the disabilities and dosh forum bashing me for 'asking for a free washing machine' and ofcourse assuming that I don't work. Well I don't but DH does :rotfl: What do they expect on that forum? It's like going on the JSA forum and having a go because people might be claiming JSA....

However there is a good one on DT about a spray that makes sex last 5 times longer! :rotfl:

Consoled myself with a big fat dominos and some dominos cookies... Oh yeah, just remembered, they weighed me today too! I have no idea why... Maybe they just wanted something to laugh at over their tea break...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
