    Thanks for all the welcomes.

1st Nov. but I would expect this will change after my scan on Wed, more like mid Nov but will update after Wed (assuming all goes well - scary!). Not sure what logic dictates due dates.....it is all new to me.

Lots of areas don't do nuchal fold as standard sadly... In oxfordshire we don't get it, if I was 5 miles south and in Buckinghamshire I'd get it as standard... hohum!
    best of luck!

Yes, now understand that I'm not alone with this situation (but 5 miles out is a farce, poor you). I just felt it was a shame I had to find out for myself that this test is standard in other authorities (I'm nearly 36) and up until that point I thought it was 'a gold standard' service that I probably didn't need. Now I know other authorities think it important to offer as standard, I've changed my mind and am booked in so at least I now know (thank god for the internet, a nosey nature and some spare cash to pay, so I'm lucky in that respect).

Seems Cumbria is particularly outdated with its lack of epidural too though eh? Unless of course you want to travel 90 mins to the West Coast and get one there.

    Thanks

Why are you stressed about not having a risk assessment? Sorry if I've missed something earlier in the thread. What sort of work do you do? Only ask because my manager has told me they won't be doing a risk assessment.

I think the plan in the next couple of years IS to offer it as standard - fat lot of help that is for us at this point :)
I did think long and hard about getting one privately but our triple test came back as extreemly low risk so I'm ok about not having it in the end... if it had been stadard I would however have had it in a heartbeat - as it is the money has gone into a savings account instead to go towards staying home with the baby when on rubbish maternity pay :)

From the government website for risk assessment etc:
    Risk assessment

When you tell your employer that you are pregnant your employer should review their risk assessment for your specific work and identify any changes that are necessary to protect you and your unborn baby's health. Your employer should involve you in the process and continue to review the assessment as your pregnancy progresses to see if any adjustments are necessary.

These risks might be caused by:
    • lifting or carrying heavy loads
    • standing or sitting for long periods
    • exposure to toxic substances
    • long working hours
Your employer must then either remove the risk or remove you from being exposed to it (for example, by offering you suitable alternative work). If neither of these is possible, your employer should suspend you from work on full pay.
If you think you're at risk

If you think you're at risk, but your employer doesn't agree, you should first talk to your health and safety representative or a trade union official. You can also go directly to your employer to explain your concerns. If your employer still refuses to take action, you should talk to your doctor or call the Health and Safety Executive helpline on 0845 345 0055 (8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday).

evansangel is a shift worker in a call centre - not only should her work station be assessed to ensure she's sat correctly for starters but if her very long shifts cause her stress etc they should be doing all they can to put her on daytime and shorter shifts for the time being :)

If you feel that there are areas of yoru work that is stressing your out unduly or avoidably - or you get back pain etc then they should do a risk assessment :)

EA - I was chasing my workplace for 6 weeks for a desk assement, as I also worked in a call centre. In the end my Dr agreed to sign me off as I had SPD, and work were being useless. Since I have been signed off they have offered everyone in the office a desk assesment. :rotfl:

I have just found out that if the HiPG form was submitted before 6th April it "should" be paid direct to the designated account by the end of May. So they are only a little bit slow in this!

Oh and my cars power steering hose has sprung a leak so I have been quoted £205  to have it replaced... took my car for a second quote as that seems quite high.

Hope all is well for ladies and bumps alike :D
