I don't know why Vanquis say to keep your other accounts in order if they don't do a credit check when they increase the limits. They've never ever credit checked me before they've increased my limits, and I've had 3 increases with them.

Interesting one this - my OH has been repeatedly declined for an increase in overdraft limit by Lloyds TSB - they say because of adverse credit bureau data.

They have not performed a credit check on him since he opened the account and they happily gave an overdraft then. Since then he's paid in over £1,500 a month and run the account flawlessly - not a penny charges.

I queried how they would be aware of CRA data, as they have not performed even an unrecorded enquiry on any of the three CRAs.

The lady didn't know, so she got her manager, who explained rather patronisingly "There's a company called Experian, they hold data"... blah blah I interrupted him and explained I know exactly what data they hold and I know that creditors can view this data by performing a credit search or unrecorded enquiry.

He informed me that this is correct in the case of quotations or new applications. He followed on to say that the bank subscribe to a system with Experian wherby they get regular updates with regard to the data on a customers credit report, without having to perform a search.

I asked him "So Experian volunteer the data to you without you asking for it?" - he gave me a catagoric YES

As untrue as I would like to think this is, it must be, as when my OH opened the account they saw no defaults or adverse. Since opening the account a default from O2 appeared on his report, but Lloyds have left no trace of a credit search since the defualt appeared....

....Worried me a bit that they do this!

  • I've been with them around 4months now. Have gone over my limit this month (just moved out of the family home, christmas etc), however, as soon as I found out I made a payment of 3xmy overlimit amount?

Do I have any chance at all of an increase?

    Hi Guy's

I applied for this card last November 08 been with them a full year on next statement do you think I will get an increase.

I have paid my balance full every month no missed payments or over the credit limit.

Also have not applied for any Credit in the whole year.

    Start balance November
    08 £250 Increased to £750 June 09

Do you still get the gold card after a year?

    Thanks

You get the gold card, it seems, once your limit goes past £1500
