If possible, pay the card off as soon as you can. Easier said than done I know.0 -
Yeah my OH had a ~£850 balance on his Vanquis which I gracefully transferred to my Barclaycard as they have 6.9% LOB even on Initial.
Was an absolute pain transferring it over though as Barclaycard are offshore and Vanquis don't accept automatic balance transfers - got there in the end though!
OH is chucking £150 a month at the £850 xfer I did so should be clear in no time. Should get a tidy limit increase from barclaycard, too, with that sort of account usage, and it's not costing me a penny! Just my OHCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Looks like my Vanquis Credit Card days maybe coming to an end very soon. I started my IVA on 1st Nov 2003, and it finally came off my Experian credit file on 1st Nov 2009, the last of my defaults cam-off on the 17th November. Checked my Creditexpert report and all looked green. My bank account setup 6 years ago, all green, T-mobile contract from Dec 08, all green and Vanquis setup in April 2008, so 6 greens on there. Plus 7 other settled accounts that were still on my record.
I used the lowermybills option on credit expert and I got it to list the Credit Cards suitable for me, normally it lists Cap 1, Vanquis and Aqua cards only as it sees 5 defaults on my account normally, but now all defaults are off it listed 26 credit Cards suitable for me!!!!!!!!
I thought this cannot be, so I applied for the Virgin credit card, 16mth balance transfer (nothing to transfer!!!), 3 months interest free and discounts on Virgin products. Completed the online application from the 'lower my bills' provided link. I was was promised an instant decision!! Whooaaaa Accepted with an £1800 limit!!!!
Looks like I am back in mainstream credit after just 6 months with a Vanquis card!!! |It feels good!! Once I get the Virgin card all setup, I shall seriously consider cancelling the Vanquis card.
Thanks Virgin (or should I say MBNA)0 -
im new to Vanquis got my card last week, when they send you a statement does it give you the amount and date they are going to take direct debit from your bank ??? does it take min payment or full ??0
-
It gives you the date they will take the DD. Whether it is minimum or full will depend on how you set it up with Vanquis0

I've never been anywhere near my credit limit on my Vanquis but they seem to increase it every 6 months.0

I must admit when I applied for the Virgin card I didn't really expect to be accepted, I would have thought I would have needed the Vanquis card for another 6 months, to get a full year of green zeros under my belt. I picked the Virgin card because the only search Experian for info, I didn't even bother changing the card colour on the application because I did n't expect to be accepted so I have got the red default colour instead of the nice black virgin card.0 -
Vanquis Account opened November 2007.
Starting limit 1,000.
Increased to 1,500 after 7 months of payments.
Then to 2,250 after 4 months.
Then to 2,500 after 4 months again. This was in March 2009.
No increase since.
I have never paid any balances in full, but also never missed any payments. Went overlimit a few times, but all fees refunded.0 -
Did you get "upgraded" to gold?0
