  • I wanted to clear off the whole balance off Vanquis in December, am I better off clearing some and leaving a balance or clearing all?

Whatever suits you coco - it won't make much difference other than the interest you'll have to pay. A good idea may be to pay a bit then the rest a few days later.... :D How are you anyway, long time no see :p:p

NO! That's not moneysaving - a card you pay for tut tut :naughty:

I am anti-cashplus, sorry! There are free cards out there, never pay for such a con.... The credit rating thing is a farce, it really doesn't do much and deffo not worth paying for and waiting a year to for the off chance that a sub prime lender (aqua/cap1/vanquis) may accept you..... :D

Sorry, I just wanted to show them a way to get a gold card, because Vanquis won't give them one.

You're right, there are free ones, like the O2 Money.

    Hi Guys

I have had the Vanquis card for a full year received my statement today my limit has moved up to £1500 called Vanquis this afternoon and a Gold Card has been sent out.

    Start balance November
    08 £250 Increased to £750 June 09 Increased £1500 December 09

I have a HSBC bank account I applied for a HSBC Credit Card went into local branch ( today ) and was excepted came out with a
    £5K Limit was approved.

The Vanquis card has helped me get on the credit ladder as last year HSBC turned me down for the card in the branch.

I then applied for the Vanquis card and after a year I get the card I wanted with HSBC In the year I paid of my balance each month and had not applied for any other credit so no credit search for a whole year.

I will not be applying for any other credit for the whole year again as next year will have a 30% lump sum for a mortgage with HSBC

Thanks Vanquis for the super service and helping me get on the credit ladder I am only 22 :D and respect the credit that is given to me.

    Hi all

just to let you know that I went from £500 to £1250 on my 7th statement.

Never thought i'd ever get an increase and it is really handy for the long stretch inbetween paydays during January.

    Hang on in there!

Is a Gold Card same interest as a normal one ?

My vanquis is £2000 limit , started at £250 about 14 months ago. NOt worried about a colour unless there is an advantage to it lol

When I received my gold card from Vanquis, there was absolutely no difference at all. My credit limit and interest rate stayed the same.

The gold card is nothing special, and the only thing you actually get is a card with a gold background.. no added benefits, no discounts.. nothing.
