Fenella - You have likely to have it switched to NTSC on an incompatible set.
Dont worry just press "system" on the top of the remote until it displays PAL.0 -

Hi there, Can you tell me is it a Region 1 (USA) disk or standard Region 2(UK) one. If it is a region 1 it may be a NTSC compatability issue.
Other problem could be how you have set up the player and the TV. Usually for DVD players, set the picture output to s-video, then make sure your TV external channel is s-video also.

i have a small problem, dunno if anyone can help.
When i shove in a mic, enable Karaoke mode, there is literally no sound. Same thing on two machines now.
Anyone know??

managed to get one.
It doesn't seem to play any xvids and they come up as vcd1.1's then the player just stops, is there any chance of getting them to work?
had a problem with the sound on one disk just fiddled with the menu and managed to fix it, i have no idea how i did it though.
the tray is a bit flimsy so im really careful when i put the disks in, but for 29.99 im really not complaining, was a really good find, thanks to original poster. ;D0 -

I sorted the karaoke CGD problem out. I was making my own and just needed to cue/bin the files.
