Exchanged the faulty unit at the Mansfield branch, new player working fine.

They had plenty left in store, so I would imagine others stores should have them in.

Can anyone help me with this.

Just got this DVD player its great value for money but...

When I use the zoom function I can't get rid of the 2x or 3x whatever and the diagram of the zoom displayed on the screen.

Usually these displays just turn off after a few seconds but this seems to stay on.

Anyone else with the same problem?

Been through the set up menu and can't find any option to stop this being displayed.

aparently it's a problem with the firmware. You can upgrade it but it seems a little dodgy. I might return mine....

Can you link me to the firmware update instructions.

I've only just received this so if the firmware update fails I can always return it as faulty at delivery

I got this for my sister for xmas who is obsesed with karaoke. It was alot cheaper than buying a karaoke machine and she gets to watch dvd's on it aswell. She was well chuffed with it and wasted no time in plugging in a microphone so we could all hear her dulcit tones!!!! thanks to the original poster for this, am very grateful as it saved me a fortune on a xmas present this year!!!

check this thread on dvd reviewer for info/pitfalls of firmware upgrades. One theory is to bombard whsmith with requests for upgrades...
