  • I have a Philips DVD112 player; it's just over 3 years old now (I paid £230 for it at the time!) It plays audio CDs fine and the picture quality is excellent. It's multi-region but it won't play discs that my son's cheap £30 Medion player can. Therefore I can see the advantage of the Skyworth's playing abilities but to me picture quality comes first.  Would the picture quality be as good as my Philips? I doubt it.

I purchased this player today as a result of going to get a steamer for my wife.  I had a Pioneer DV505 which was 6+ years old and the picture was good on this.  Tthe picture on the Skyworth is totally fine from my perspective on a 32" Widescreen.  Considering the price the package as a whole is superb.

Only prob so far I've had is not getting a mic working with it. Anyone used the karaoke facility at all? If so, what type of mic did you use?

Have used karaoke facility with a cheap microphone (both wired and wireless) from Tradex. Worked fine, although some echo, not sure if player or microphone though. Good fun. ;D

I think the kids will have fun with it. I'll try hunting down a cheap microphone from somewhere.

I can't tell you how good this machine is - it's awesome!

I have given it everything and nothing has been rejected.

It's played avi's straight from the web, avi's and mpg's mixed on the same disk, mpg's and mp3's mixed together. Believe me. this machine is a real find at 30 quid - go out and get one now!

    I put merchant of venice on two cd's and I got 8 full avi films on a dvd. What a beaut! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Despite changing the audio settings and using different Mics I still cannot get voice through Karaoke. ???

Not being funny, but have you turned on the Karaoke function in the setup, until you do that the mic is off.

If you have then ignore me :) It's just I did the same thing :)

Mine arrived on New Years eve !! just in time for the party that night. The Karaoke function was WELL received !!

    Awesome for the money....

  • Picked mine up today instore (Durham)!

As stated before by other members it plays anything that you want to throw at it.

I have even just went through my jpeg photo album with no prblem at all.

It will play your mp3's at the same time as displaying the album cover, very nice!!

It has been stated that it plays the karaoke CDG cd's.
I have tried this but failed.

    Any tips?

I did turn on Karaoke function. Audio Setup> Karaoke > Mic > On but no joy. At least the neighbours will be thankful. I was hoping to be the only Karaoke in our village (@ Little Britain ;D).

Regarding CDGs, mines play flawlessly, if you burnt them yourself make sure you do not burn them at a high speed as this can cause problems with playback, if they are pre-pressed then it could be a fault but again ensure Karaoke feature is enabled but I would hacve expected the machine to recognise a CDG disc automatically when loading.

I bought one of these machines and have managed to set it up. I have sound and a picture though the picture is not in colour. Can someone explain what I have done wrong please without being too technical. ???
