Just placed an order online. Hope it comes. :-/ Am very impressed with this price - even includes free scart lead! My local WHSmith is only up the road, so have opted for free delivery as well! Bargain. ;D

Only thing that I forgot about was ordering via GreasyPalm. :-[ Oh well!
  • The only negative reports I've heard (apart from the flimsy disk tray) is that the length of time displayed on the OSD remains permanently on in the corner of your screen during playback of Divx movies. Doesn't seem to affect DVD or other formats though.
HTH. You only need to press OSD on the remote until Display Off is shown to stop it showing the length of time.

  • Amazon.co.uk also have multiregion DVD players for the same price. Just thought I'd let you know!

Anyone know if this hack works? Won't have the opportunity to try mine before xmas but saw this elswhere.

    Multi-region & Macrovision hack

    1. Disc Tray Open
    2. press 3,3,0,8 (on remote or player itself)
    3. Select Region (1,2,3...0 for multiregion disables macrovision also)

dunno but not too sure because you can't press 3,3,0,8 on player itself as there's no such buttons - doesn't bode well!!!!

and yeah mine was region 0 out of the box too! hmmm

I have a Philips DVD112 player; it's just over 3 years old now (I paid £230 for it at the time!) It plays audio CDs fine and the picture quality is excellent. It's multi-region but it won't play discs that my son's cheap £30 Medion player can. Therefore I can see the advantage of the Skyworth's playing abilities but to me picture quality comes first. Would the picture quality be as good as my Philips? I doubt it. The player that gets all the accolades is the Toshiba S340E which can be picked up for £70 odd quid and plays divx apparently. Maybe that might come down in price in the New Year sales.
