Its their mistake and they cannot make you pay it all back at once, ring again ask to speak to a supervisor and tell them you are in no position to make restitution and as its their fault for underestimating you want to arrange a payment plan. Ask for written details of the debt and an explaination as to why it has taken them so long to find out the mistake. They are trying to bully you into doing something you cannot afford to do, ask them if they would prefer to deal with the OR when they force you to go bankrupt!!!!!!

Then write or phone your MP and ask them to investigate, when a public office gets a letter from an MP they have to reply within a time frame, it used to be 48 hours, it may have changed since I left the civil service.

tootles, your dam right. i was far too soft, i just kept saying, but i can't afford it. it all just over whelmed me and i got quite upset by the end of the phone call, the person who answered made me feel it was fault. reading your post has made me feel i can take on the world, stand by cos i'm ringing them back and taking no prisoners. how dare they make me feel like this for there mistake. supervisor or higher. (god i hope i can be as confident as i sound).

Having the soup I made yesterday for lunch and have a shepherds pie in slow cooker which will be cooked tonight but I will put in fridge for tomorrow.

DD's friend was impressed with home made burgers and fruit cake and was a bit alarmed that I kept trying to feed her up! lol.

I agree with the previous comments about the council - it was their mistake and they cannot just expect a load of money from you just like that.

I would go to your MP if I were you - after CAB etc.

I've been known to start calls with:-

"You don't get paid enough to have to deal with this call, just pass me on to your supervisor please and tell them you have a very angry/upset caller here."

    :)

But I do say this nicely to them :)

Thanks Squeaky, I'll have to remember that one next time I need to ring Readers Digest :rotfl: Funnily enough I never have to ring anyone else as I never seem to have problems with anyone else

    Hi all:wave:

woas - give it to 'em!

I've just spoken to my mum. Apparently my dad went back into hospital last night in an ambulance as he was passing blood :( They've taken him off the rat poison (Warfarin :D same stuff that he uses on the farm, just in a different format) today and think that he's lost about 2 pints of blood  Hopefully he'll be out by tomorrow again.

Everyone in school seems really down at the Special Measures diagnosis, but I'm trying to look at it in a positive way (esp as I've only been here for half a term) as we'll get so much support and pushing in the right direction? Maybe I'm just naive............

I was talking to my Teaching Assistant earlier, anyway, it turns out that her DH is some sort of IT guru for a company nearby. She's told me that if I pass OH's cv onto her, then she'll get him to look at it and show it around other IT bods!

I'd better go for now. Plenty of books to mark....................... Plus the head is taking us all out for drinks after school :D

    Afternoon,

I've been to the hospital today. I had to go on my own as DH had to work, which i hate, but i coped. I always feel really anxious having to do it on my own, but then proud that i have achieved it.

No housework done. I've managed to persuade the kittens that it is a good idea to go out today, and they arecurrently out of sight, and hopefully burning off loads of energy. they are going to be neutered and microchipped tomorrow, so i need to be orgnised enough to make sure they have eaten all they need to before 10pm, and get up early to take water away from 7am. I think they may be a little less mischevious after that, but i'm preparing for some serious mewing in the morning as they don't like to be without food.

Just had a parcel delivered from amazon - a copy of the tightwad gazette after its rave reviews on here. Managed to get it with a gift voucher though, and ordered a present for someone else to get free delivery, another one for the gift cupboard. Guess i'll be doing some reading this afternoon.

I'm starting to get morning sickness. I have felt off it all day. Was fun trying to find a loo at the hospital. So i'm trying to eat little and often, and not move too much.

Hugs to wishing on a star, and i will PM you VickyA to tell you what special measures is like in my school.

    Enjoy your day everyone,

    Michelle, x

Afternoon to all, sound like several of you are having a trying time at the mo - best wishes all round!

dd2 and dd3 are both of school today with stinking colds, they are now snuggled under duvets on the sofa, and are staring glassy eyed at Cbeebies (the electronic babysitter). They had a burst of energy this morning and gave each other makeovers, I think they're better than me at it! ;)

Corned beef hash for dinner tonight - well for the children anyway, it's one of their favourite meals  DH and I will probably have something simple, we've both been working rubbish hours this week, so are feeling a bit tired! Never mind, will throw something together and I have a nice bottle of wine ready! :T

Think that the new breadmaker has given up the ghost - it isn't even a week old, obviously need a more powerful model! I knew I should have got the panasonic, but this one was on offer in Boots, and I could use up my Boots points to pay for it - ho hum! Have just made some dough by hand, and will pop it in the oven later when it's risen. Also need to make potato dough, promised dd1 and ds cinnamon rolls tomorrow!

I'd like to say that I've been really industrious, but I can't, think I'll browse around here a bit longer, then finish pottering about with the tidying!

Hope everyone has a good day. :D

Still stressed with this moving lark :o I keep thinking I've been waiting for this for so long, but it's going all pear shaped already, had an offer of boxes, but dp is refusing to pick them up, due to a whopping £5 diesel cost  so looks like we will be forking out about £30.00 in argos or should that be me, so looks like we wont be eating next week    I thought he would be helpful but is all he is doing is making me stressed..
It would be ok if i was on my own cos my dad would do it for me , but he wont now cos he says it's dp job how right he is.

Hi Yall, I can't believe it's nearly 4pm and I'm only just getting around to reading the daily thread:eek: Real life is taking over - my priorities are shot. LOL

Just enjoying a glass of Chataux Cheapo after a very busy day. I'm still catching up after being away for the weekend and apart from 30 mins for lunch I havn't stopped. House is clean and tidy, lunches for tomorrow done, Airer loaded, ironing done, Paid2clicks dones, Beds stripped and re-made, hard floors waxed, baths and kitchen bleached, carpets vacced, dust is dusted, accounts balanced. I'm leaving the windows for tomorrow and have no idea what we shall have for dinner. Thank goodnes it's Lent and I don't have to think about a pudding.

I'm planning to go out at the weekend a get a few clothes. I'm sitting here in a pair of jeans I got last year from the boys section of Asda size 14-15years and they are too big. LOL Master MATHLETT has been eyeing them up and claimed first dibs on them if I'm getting rid. He's given me a stiff talking to tho fashion wise- apparently while it is fine for him to swan around in skater boy jeans half hanging off him with 3 inches of pant on show it is far from OK if you are in the playground collecting your children from school. In short I've been ordered to get out of the low-rise denim and into a pair of fawn slacks. After a bit of probing (once I'd picked my jaw up) it transpires that a new kid in school asked (innocently) if I was his brother. It hasn't gone down well which he indicated with plenty of fingers sticking down throat and faux gagging. LOL
The beanie hats and base ball caps are tooo much as well (of course he will take them off my hands:rolleyes: to save me the trouble of taking them to the charity shop) and my denim jacket almost fits him too he informs me...mmmmm
He's pointed out a Jeremy Clarkson look-a-like in the playground and told me to dress like that cos that's what 'nromal' Dad's look like. Arrrrgggghhhhh
So when I go out shopping on Saturday I will sneak out early under cover of darkness before he is awake so I can get something decent before he drags me into Man at C&A:eek: and shoehorns me into a tan carcoat:eek: :D

VickyA Hope all goes well with Dad. Passing blood is scary but not always as bad as it looks.

Wishingonastar Don't give up and stick to your guns you're in the right and let them know it.

BRZL You sound like you had a nice night. Really pleased you're feeling brighter.

KIWI Hope your days gone well.

PP Haven holidays are ggggrrreat. Say hi to Rory the Tiger for me. What a nice surprise you deserve it.

    Luv MATH x
