  • OH has been very busy this morning. He's made 2 large quiches, both have had peppers, mushrooms, ham, cheddar, cherry tomatoes, sweetcorn and a little pineapple in them. All these food items were in the fridge and needed using up, so in theory....its all free food so has cost nought and cooker was on for lamb joint and sausage rolls anyway:D 1 is for the leaving do tonight and the other for us and will be frozen in portions for lunches or teas.

He's also done the S/rolls and is peeling the spuds for the roasties to be put in.....awww bless him, but he looks likes he's enjoying it and Ive stayed out the way as I get stressed with the mess he makes whilst cooking. He does tidy up after him though. Has also bunged in 4 Linda Mcartney burgers that were reduced to 25p in Iceland for his lunch...yuk!!

Have watched Desperate Housewifes from last night and am currently watching under the hammer. Dad works in property development so know a little about this and can be easy money if you know whats what!

Have done another 10 auctions for ebay, so 40 in total. Have a few parcels to wrap and send off today. Am having trouble with an ebayer ATM and will proably resort in a negative feedback but he has sent a letter with supposed cash payment (which was not in there) and he is calling me a thief:eek: I may be alot of things.....but a thief Im NOT:D Cheeky git!!

    Anyway, Im off.

Hows you MATH? Hope you and family are OK.

    Hugs to everyone.

Morning all! A bit of a late start this morning, as I feel like I've been run over by a herd of elephants. I have cleaned out the guinea pig and hung out some wet washing so far, so not totally time wasted. I'm also keeping out of the kitchen as DH is making lemon curd in there. Hope he clears up after himself!

Kiwichick : The very very best of luck for today! Will be keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you.

Penny-Pincher : So glad to hear you're feeling perky today - and how nice of your folks to stump up for the holiday etc. Bless!

Wishingonastar : Don't panic about the council tax - they always threaten court action, just to get people to react instead of ignoring the letter. Yes, if you continued to ignore it for long enough, they would ultimately take you to court, but so long as you get in touch and keep talking to them, they'll work with you to get it sorted out. Usually they'll just apportion out the debt across the payments you've got left to make, if you can't cough up the full amount straight away.

Foreverskint : I'm all for this "writing stuff down" malarky. I have what I call my "mobile memory", which is a list of things I intend to do that day. I keep it tucked down my bra and tick stuff off or add stuff on as I either do it, or think of it! Just as well I've got the cleavage to cope. :rotfl:

Catowen : If the talk with the teacher tonight doesn't give you any satisfaction regarding your son's boredom, then I'd not wait any longer but go straight to the head teacher now. Once kids go off the boil, its hell on wheels to get them interested enough to engage with a challenge again.

Nicola1982 : Don't forget there's always the library for internet access - so you can't get away from us that easily! :D Good luck with the move.

Bargain Rzl : That's got to mean "Girlie Best Friend", surely?

Right, I'd better get on. Got to work out next month's money, oil some bridlework ready to photograph and get posted upon Ebay tonight, we were supposed to be having chicken pie for dinner by DH is groaning around the place and saying he's about to blow chunks, so I think we'll wing it and have a freezer pot luck. Need to get rid of the shop bought lasagne's and Chicken in breadcrumb rubbish anyway! So that saves me from making a pie, so I'll dedicate that time to the ironing instead and maybe gain some time tomorrow. :T

Oh yes - and I'm waiting for a letter from the insurers DH used for his motorbike. We sold the bike back in July last year and cancelled the insurance. They're now saying we owe them the excess of some £90. Told them to go away and write to me, then I'll consider thinking about it. Seems like a diabolical liberty to me - so we'll see what they have to say.

B : Rice crispies .. although I'm going to have a smoothie in a minute, 'cos I'm ravenous still.
    L : Mackerel on couscous.
    D : Freezer pot luck.
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

    woo hoo

I think I have solved our problem re OH union - he insisted last night that all dues had to be paid since he left - I checked on the website in the rule book and it states

"the Committee shall decide whether the application shall be accepted and whether to set any re-entry fee which shall not exceed 25 per cent of the weekly rate of pay "

this is a lot better than £400 that I thought

have emailed him this at home - just waiting for him to wake up and I will tell him - then he can make his decision

EDIT: can somebody please remind me how to find the merged/archived Daily Threads from past months? I'm looking for something Kiwichick posted in February.

Use the "Indexed Collections" link in the blue bar at the top of any page.

The post holding all the Daily Archive threads is at the bottom :)

    Morning all.... :grouphug:

Just got back from Asda and discovered I have £3.33 to last me until the end of the month :o Looks to me as £120 a month is not enough for us to eat well as I can't get the fruit etc any cheaper around here so I'm going to have to up it to £160 which makes it £40 a week. At least this month I can find the money from excess money in my savings account, looks like debt repayments are going to have to be reduced and I'm now going to have to try and juggle the budget again

Currently out on the side in the kitchen defrosting are :
    • 1 bag mince from Asda (Bolognese, canalloni, shepherds pie, lasagne)
    • 1 bag chicken drumsticks (BBQ chicken, going to pre cook them today in one lot of sauce, fridge them, then heat them up PROPERLY tomorrow with another dose of sauce, I might even marinate them overnight in it as well....mmmm sticky mess :rotfl: )
    • 1 bag chicken portions (to cook and dismantel for pies, chicken supreme on Sunday, anything else I can stretch it too! )
    • For "blokes cauliflower cheese"
      • bag of cauliflower
      • bag of broccoli
      • bacon
    • old bread (bread and butter pudding, maybe a savoury one as well)
I also have a 1.5kg of carrots, 1kg rice and whatever I can find in the cupboards to make up a load of meals to stop me wondering what to make and then ending up buying stuff.

Also, but don't tell anyone, under the stairs I have a bag for life from Wilkinsons with the next lot of fruit (we can finish what's in the fruit bowl first as it's almost gone!), a jar of jam, a jar of reduced peanut butter and a tub of salt. All this is hidden under a blanket I keep for really cold nights, or nights when I can't get warm but OH is hot, while watching TV. I've also got a single quilt under there so I can pull that out instead if needed ;)

WM just finishing and will go on airer/hangers. 1 batch of dishes done, will do another after dinner, and now I'm going to set too on my ebay listings for today. ;)

    Right, off I go

WHY GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)
Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve.
And the first thing he said was "DON'T!"
    "Don't what?" Adam replied.
"Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said.
"Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit!"
    "No Way!"
    "Yes way!"
"Do NOT eat the fruit! " said God.
    "Why?"
"Because I am your Father and I said so!" God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants.
A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked!
"Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit?" God asked.
    "Uh huh," Adam replied.
"Then why did you? " said the Father.
    "I don't know," said Eve.
    "She started it!" Adam said.
    "Did not!"
    "Did too!"
    "DID NOT!"
Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own.
Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY!

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself.
If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?
    THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!
    1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.
    2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.
    3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.
    4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.
    5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own.
    6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.
    ADVICE FOR THE DAY:
Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day.
    AND FINALLY:
IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:
"TAKE TWO ASPIRIN" AND "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN"!!!!!
