you are right, but I am just worried about switching.
    as my most calls are to 0844 988 / 0844 901 / 0844 545
    Respectively 3 / 4 and 5 p

I am just wondering I would be better off with Primus or should I stay with BT.

The only landline supplier that i have a read about that charges more then BT to call 0844 is OneTel who charge 10% more.

Even if you move to Primus you could still use BT 1280 to put your 0844/0871 calls through BT if they were any cheaper.

hi,has anybody had difficulty logging on to primus using aol.joe soap

    Yes, lots.

Contacted primus who said it was AOL.

45 min call to AOL (made longer by asking the guy to repeat everything he said where they've outsourced the call centre) emphatically stated it was a problem with primus.

Got back in touch with primus, who said that another AOL customer had let primus know how to fix the problem.

So: Visit AOL Keyword and type in securefix

    And that's it!

Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
  • I want to switch to Primus away from onetel (now they are talk talk) but when i go through the Uswitch thing it just says i should go with BT option 2.

How can i get it to give me Primus as a switch option.

    thanks

    -Tom

You have to 'manipulate' the data you input to get the Primus Freetalk Plus 2 (£2.99 per month subscription for 'free' evening and weekend calls) package to be offered as one of the uswitch website results.

The better (and cheaper) way is to bypass uswitch and call Primus on their freephone number 0800 036 0094 and ask for the Primus Saver Option 2 (free evening and weekend calls for no monthly subscription) package.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Yes you are right heinz, but keep in mind you will miss the £8 quidco cashback if you go direct.

I am not sure about the £5 / mo back. Do they offer it direct as well or is it only for uSwitch customers?

Yes, you lose out on the £5 'loyalty bonus' (which amounts to £2.01 for 12 months if you compare the subscription-free Primus Saver Option 2 and the £2.99 per month Primus Freetalk Plus 2 packages) unless you go through uswitch and take one of the 'Freetalk' packages.

OTOH, the £2.99/month subscription kicks in after the first 12 months and, I suspect, they wouldn't allow you to change to the subscription-free Primus Saver Option 2 package then.

    Swings and roundabouts .........

I switched to Option1 and thats still in process. I am sure I will get Loyalty bonus £5. and will pay nothing other than calls I will make.

But I think I am or will change my mind to Option 2.

Confused that if I will still be entitled to £8 quidco, and £5/mo

Primus will pay this Loyalty bonus right?
So maybe its safe to call them and say I want to switch to Option2.

    Any ideas?
