Get paid for free evening and weekend calls

I've been following this thread as I am at the end of my Talktalk 6 months (£5 monthly credit) extension.
My reading of this is that the Primus £15 credit is applied quarterly in arrears, so it means that you will have to physically pay £2.99 a month for at least 2 months (assuming Primus bill monthly) in order to avail of this credit. The net result is that there is a cost to the customer (if you never actually avail of the credit build up on your bill - ie all your calls are eve and w/e).
Is this correct?0 -

That's a very good point. Don't know why it did not click with me earlier. Seems to me if what you are saying is true will mean that most of us will just build up a lot of useless credit, as outside of the free evening and weekend periods we will all be using 1899 etc. Well picked up on!:money:0 -
It is a point, but you could still use this for short calls - a chargeable one minute call is almost the same price on any network0

Low to medium users or people that only use the service at weekends should consider the Primus Saver plus 1 option. Its free to join . They give you FREE Weekend Calls, and they also give you £5 a month Credit a month if you join up in March via Uswitch..That works out over to a year to £60 credit they give you.Which you can carry forward. You also get to keep free weekend calls in year 2 onwards .With Evening Calls just 5p combine it with 1899 and it might be better for some.PF.0

Another good point. However, everything seems to be getting more complex all the time. I still prefer using 1899 for my cheap daytime calls. Plus I need to put one or two calls BT's way each month (I get billed monthly) to ensure I keep free caller display. That just leaves most evenings. At 5p a throw, £60 is a lot of credit to use up.
The only other use I would have with this credit is perhaps the odd occasion I cannot find an alternative to a 0870 number, and perhaps combining DialAround with calls to mobiles. Does anyone know if you can use 08444 access numbers through Primus, and the cost? Their website seems remarkably silent on most numbers.0 -
You could also use your credit to pay the £2.99 per month for E/W calls, after your 12 months are over, providing you with another 8 months FREE!0

Can Telewest customers use this. I presume, as ever, no grographical numbers are not included in this. If so then http://www.saynoto0870.com/ is a good site, a way to get alterntive numbers. This is my first post by the way so hope I have done it right.0

No (only those with a BT landline can use a CPS provider).
You are right - calls to 01/02 number only.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
