Just been to USwitch website, no mention of Primus 2 Option, only Option 1.

Also, I can't see the long term benefits of switching through USwitch. Yes, you would be about £24 a year better off for the first year, but what about after that? Presumably the £2.99 charge would continue, and I would imagine you would not be allowed to switch to the "free" Primus option 2 after that because you would be an existing customer.

As I see it, this offer is only attractive to someone that intends to spend only 1 year with Primus.

    Thoughts or comments anyone?

It is still their but it only brings it up if you meet their criteria.

I said i was on BT Opt 2 ,paid by d/d ,only made e&w calls about 5 to 7 a night,to get it to come up.

If you were taking a long term view of things yes the offer is not that attractive. However in the fast moving world of call prices Primus could stop offering the Primus Saver 2 product free if you joined direct.

As it is only the beginning of March, I think I will wait at least another 2 weeks before taking the plunge to leave OneTel. I don't really want to stay with them as I would imagine TalkTalk will be applying the "hard sell" soon to try and get everyone onto their line rental. (I remember going to CarPhoneWarehouse a couple of years ago as I was thinking about renting a satellite phone as I was visiting remote areas in the western USA. I was in there for almost an hour. I spent 2 minutes discussing the satellite phone, and the rest of the time was the hard sell for talktalk. Only got him off the subject by saying I was with Telewest for my phone line).

I imagine the best thing I could do is go for this offer, and after 12 months downgrade to Saver Option 1 for free weekend calls, which will put me back exactly where I am now, but with £24 in my pocket.:D

Sounds like I have read the offer wrong.:o I thought it was a rebate rather than credit.

It's decribed, rather strangely, as a 'loyalty bonus' - but I doubt they'll send you a cheque (they'll probably just credit your account with the £15 every 3 months).

So, the question remains, what happens if you don't spend those credits? Do they get carried forward into year 2?

Of course, that question only applies where the £5/month 'loyalty bonus' is more than the monthly fee (Freetalk Plus 1 and Freetalk Plus 2) so a credit account balance could build up.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I spoke to Uswitch and the Guy i spoke did not know the answer to this one.Although he said " Thats a very good point".

Perhaps Martin MSE or MSE Archna can find out for us.

  • I have just tried using Uswitch and selecting info on Primus but all the options just take me back to the homepage (apart from the "Continue" option to actually sign up) - can anyone help please

    Hi,

Primus Freetalk Plus 1 (free weekend calls) has also been extended until the end of March. The rebate can be carried forward for an unlimited amount of time so any extra build up could be used to offset the charge when the loyalty bonus stops.
  • I have just tried it again and it throws me straight back to the USwitch homepage - what am I doing wrong?
