Hi folks. Been MIA for a few days. W.I. Panto now over for another year!
Had a great time as Sheriff of Nottingham! Got to get my head round HMS Pinafore now!
Managed to keep on the OS route by careful planning. Got withdrawal symptoms though cos not had time for any batch cooking or home baking. Brushed up my sewing skills though making costumes.
Been to the W.I. County AGM today where the guest speaker was Gloria Hunniford. What a wonderful woman!! Also made me realise what a brilliant organisation the W.I. is. So many opportunities available and lots of support. I wish we had more younger members - it's not all jam & jerusalem!!
Happy Birthday to Noahspennilessmummy :bdaycake:
Candygirl, hope your DGD makes an appearance tomorrow so she can share her birthday with someone!!
(((Hugs))) to all who need them!

One more week at work & then the Easter hols, the dog is arriving next Tuesday, so we're looking forward to having her stay for a few weeks.

......another employment agency who are putting me forward for a job with our local council. I really hope I get that one as they work flexi time and have loads of perks available.......
One bit of advice for local government - if you complete the application form "correctly", you stand much more chance of an interview. By that, I mean following the instructions - if it says "no CV" then DON'T send one, and answer all the points in the job description. I know it seems like common sense, but you'd be surprised how many people miss out because they have messed up
Also, the pension is pretty good & final salary, and we are able to take 2 days flexi every 4 week period (if we have the time, that is) which can more than double the annual leave allowance2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Just popped in to say that I read this thread every single day but hardly ever contribute...sorry! However you all keep me on the right track and I love hearing about your daily deeds.
My deeds are along OS lines so I feel included. Today I bought a heavily reduced chicken from Sainsbury, stuffed a lemon up it's end bit and and roasted it. Most of the flesh is now in the freezer along with loads of stock made from the carcass.
Last night had a 2 for 1 meal at ASK courtesy of a voucher printed off from here and then we went to see a truly lousy film - Lesbian Vampire Killers - which was mildly amusing, not quite a waste of time but pretty close to it. Just the good company made it worth the effort, and the really tasty food at ASK.
Freezer has been stuffed full of leek & potato soup, carrot and lentil soup and the makings of pea and mint soup! All to be eaten with chicken sandwiches - lunch for the next month I think.
Thanks for your company, I'm not a prolific writer but certainly a prolific reader.0 -
Evening All,
Hope you are all having a good day, nearly the weekend!! yey!!
Had a good day at work however been looking for a job for OH all evening getting quite annoyed and depressed with the whole thing at the moment, need him to start earning money asap as we are struggling to pay bills, rent etc
Looking forward to eating my roast dinner tonight and to be honest have not done any OS today apart from making my own salad for work which was yummy. Going to do some housework tomorrow evening and at the weekend whilst OH watches F1
Have a nice evening all.0 -
Hello everyone
Well, it's 6am in the morning here but I thought it would just be confusing if I started a new threadYesterday we went to a textile market where I bought lots of very cheap ribbon and some jewellery findings. We will go back for fabric before we leave though. We also found a market deaing in tools aqnd hardware, so I managed to pick up a set of engraving tools very cheaply as well. I'm not good at haggling though, I am simply too shy, so I let OH do it. Today we are off to a hill fortress and a couple of buddist temples. Should be fun
have a good day, cel

Evening all!
Hugs to all who need/want them, especially Mummysaver's nephew, Mudgekin and assorted job hunters!
MIA yesterday, so thanks to everyone who commented on my bedding situation. We have a local drop-in so the two spare single duvets will probably end up there.
No OS today other than preparing tomorrow's lunch. But I've got a list of jobs which I am saving for the weekend
The car went into the garage today for a service and a couple of other bits doing, so I did walk to work (along the river with swathes of swaying golden daffodils). The damage is not too bad - about £280 inc VAT, and I have the money put aside for it - but she will have to go back in on Monday to have a new part fitted.
Sybil - I love reading about your little bear, but the curtain rail  Maybe he's going to be a demolition expert when he grows up!
I shall be MIA tomorrow night as well as I am going to the dogs with work. It'll only cost me my drinks and whatever bets I make, as the rest comes out of the social fund - it should be fun, and I'm driving myself so can come home when I want, instead of being dependant on other people.
So glad tomorrow is Friday, can't wait for the weekend, now if only the sun would come out and the weather pick up properly - nasty chill in the air tonight.
Yawning my head off, so will love you and leave you. Good night, sleep tight.

Peyton - How long do you cook the pot roast in the SC? It sounds lovely, but my SC instruction book (it's an actual Crock-pot) says potatoes and veg should be "sliced thinly", so although I've made stew in there with the veg diced quite small, I haven't tried it with big chunks of potatoes and carrots, which are of course much nicer!
MummySaver - Prayers for you and yours and the wee babe. Know we're all here for you hun.
LadyMay - So very glad to hear all went ok with the dr visit. Well done again on getting to the dr so quickly.
PP - You sound proud as punch and well you should be. Your DD sounds amazing.
Mel - Hope you will be feeling better very soon.
Moggins - Best of luck on the job search and interviews.
I can't remember who was talking about it, but the orange stuff in the grout may be a form of mold or mildew. Especially if your bathroom has a lot of hot showers and baths each day. The thing I found that works the best for cleaning the grout is diluted bleach. I brush it on and let it sit for half hour then scrub and rinse. Just make sure it's well ventilated so the fumes don't bother you. The place I used to live in would do that in the bath and it worked well for me. HTH
Today has been clutter, clutter everywhere day. DH was home so got him to sort through his books and pick out the ones he really wanted left up and boxed up tons to put under our bed. We have no storage space except for one small cupboard here so it was fun juggling things and getting them put in their new/proper places. DH can't really see that we accomplished much however it will be much easier to keep things neat and tidy now that I'm not knocking books off every available surface. Honestly I think we may have enough to open a small library!
Sorry if I've forgotten anyone not feeling well, down or celebrating. My mind is more of a sieve tonight than usual. Off to do the washing up from tea and then I think to bed.
Gentle hugs to all.
