OS Daily Thread - Thursday 26 March

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 26 March 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning everyone! Hope you're all well today?

Got an early start this morning, as we're off on the 7am ferry - but have to check in 45 minutes before she sails and we live a good 15 minutes from the ferry terminal! So, up in the middle of the night with due cause rather than because I can't sleep!! And that's providing she sails, as the forecast for today isn't too good - it's breezy just now!

Right, got to go and empty the dishwasher, let out the dog, have a shower, hang up some washing on the airers and then head for the ferry. Think we'll treat ourselves and have breakfast on board this morning.

So, I won't be around again until Sunday - hope everyone has a good end to the week and a great start to the weekend!

    Morning.

Wet and windy here. First rain we have seen for a few weeks, so perhaps welcome. It looks to be getting colder over over the weekend, so that's disapointing.
Last day of work today before 3 days off. We are hoping to finish at 3pm and go to Wetherspoons for a drink as one of our office is leaving for another post. Could be a good day, although depends what jobs are running when I go in.
I have 30 eggs incubating now. Day 4 today. Should know the fertility rate by day 7.
Cabages have germinated, and the broccoli, so they will be potted on over the weekend.
Well, folks hope you all have a nice day.... cheers

    Morning Everyone

Its been lashing it down here all night so no doubt my garden will resemble an outdoor swimming pool.So no chance of getting the fruit bushes planted out today grrrr.

OH is back at work today till Sunday so a quiet couple of days for me and YS.I think we'll break out the playdough today and have some fun with it.Its been a while so shoul be fun.I need to get my Wii Fit done later I am determined to lose a stone before our hols I will not be the fat bird in the pool. The last of the clothes for the Confirmation arrived yesterday and if I say so myself my lot dont half scrub up well so we should look mighty respectable on the day.I've been contacting family to see if they want to attend my lot want to come no probs but OH's family treat religion with suc suspicion that you'd think I wanted to induct them into a crazy sect rather than invite them to a celebration!Heyho its their loss

Household wise OH has decided he is joining me on low carbing next week so I need to get rid of as much junk food out of the house as I can otherwise 'll be stuck with it so I can see some seriously hefty meals coming along. So going to have a root through the cupboards and sort out what biscuits etc need using up

    Morning all,
DD1 is coming for the day, that's if she doesn't get called into teach. Plan to make her a prawn stirfry for lunch, her favorite. She is bringing all paperwork for me to sort through, her finances are a mess, so will try and persuade her to be more O.S. and stop buying branded everything. Think it might be a long day.
The only recipes I could find for layered meatloaf were American ones. Any suggestions as to where I can find an English one?
WM is on with DD2's washing mostly baby clothes and cot sheets. A little bundle sure goes through a lot of laundry.
Baby Charlotte was weighed y/day, she is 7lb 1oz. Hope to see her today.
Off to catch up on y/days thread and have another coffee.

Chilly here this morning, but not raining at the moment.
Hubby is still working at school, he may know today if he's got next week or not, hope so as there is nothing else on the horizon.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Morning all,

breezy & murky looking here too. Might be a porridge day for breakfast... Lunch will be on the run & supper is pork onion/apple in creme fraiche.
DW running now & also popped some washing on the indoor airer -decided against the outside line looking at the weather!

Nessie, have a great time! Talking of ferries, isn't it today Mioliere was hoping to get back on line? Hope they've made it safely to France & are settling in :)
N9eav, looking forward to pics of more chicks in a few weeks...
Ravylesley, sounds like fun - a day of playdough :) Enjoy...!
Betheebee, prawn stirfry sounds scrummy - I may do that for supper another day as I've got a tub of frozen king prawns I'd bought YS a few weeks ago. I used to make a meatloaf years ago, can't find the recipe though but I'm sure I used to shape it out flat on greaseproof, then put either grated carrot or mash potato in the middle & roll it like a swiss roll!
Hester, fingers crossed for more work for your DH for next week then.
Ladymay, glad you had good news yesterday too, I bet you slept better!

Off up to a hotel at Gatwick today, to attend a social work taskforce event - in other words taking views from "the frontline" to this new taskforce who have been put together to consider how to make changes to the profession (after Baby P). Perhaps more money to get (& support to keep) more staff & not having to spend 80% of our time sitting in front of computers typing up forms, but a chance to actually get out there & work with people properly might be a good start. As a student coming to the end of 3 years tough training I think it will be an interesting day....

Anyhow ((((((hugs)))))) to all those needing them. Have a good day all.

    Morning all,

Colder here again today, the sky looks full of rain, off to work today but finish at 4 so not too bad :T

Did two loads of washing last night, which are on the airer, too damp to hang it out. Will have a swish and swipe before heading off this morning.

Dinner tonight is sausage, bacon, eggs beans and chips, lots of little bits of each left over, so ideal to use them up.

Squiggly, enjoy your day, I think Kathy was hoping to get back online today, I hope they have settled in ok.

Hester I hope your Hubby gets some more work xx

Ahh well better get on, have good days all xx

  • Morning all,

Had a horrible nights sleep last night, for some reason for the past week I have been plagued with nightmares and have spent the majority of nights tossing and turning

Priority for me is ringing the chemist this am to get my new asthma inhaler prescription put through, its running on practically nothing at the moment  DS behaved like a little monster all day yesterday, never mind the terrible twos, with him its more like the fearsome fours :rotfl: OH has banned him from watching TV or DVD's today so DS is sulking a bit!

Aside from that I have a day of washing and ironing planned - took meatballs out of freezer for tonights tea and will be serving them with spaghetti later on :D We had a stir fry last night and it was delicious, marinated the chicken in tikka first so it was kind of East meets West, seemed to work though, OH asked why it doesn't taste like this everytime and had a second portion :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a nice day, (((hugs)))) to all who need em, am off to get another brew and try to wake up a bit

    Morning All

Ladymay - go on be brave & ask him. (good luck)

Looks miserable out the window here as well, doesnt matter too much as off to a meeting which is 1.5 hours each way & over the dartford crossing so may be even longer. Popped round a friends last night to wish her happy birthday & stayed longer than expected so feeling rather tired today.

No early night tonight either as meeting up with friends who I meet every couple of months. OH is cooking spag bol. So not much os for me today, essential paperwork this morning & will try and fit some more ironing in.

Off now to finish my tea.
