  • Good morning all. Cold, windy and on and off rain here today. Not nice at all. I have plenty to keep busy with though. DH is off for the next 3 days so will have him helping me sort some things that are boxed up and get them put away properly.

Beef brisket will go into the SC soon for our tea. I'm going to make it like a pot roast with big chunks of potatoes, carrots and onion. It's something I often made in the states. The leftovers will make some sliced meat for sarnies and the rest will turn into a big pot of beef veg soup with a tomato base.

A very happy birthday to Noah's Penniless Mom I hope this is a wonderful day and year for you.

(((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))) to all those feeling poorly and who would just like one.

I just wanted to post and say thank you all for all of your helpful tips on this board. I can safely say that I have turned into an old-styler! I have been bulk-cooking and freezing everything (even a little bit of gravy last night!). I have kept a flask by the kettle and been topping it up. I even made a trip to Tescos at 10pm the other night to see what Whoopsies there were, and came back with a couple of packs of sausages and bacon all for 75p! They are now safely tucked in my freezer for use in a casserole at some point! :T

I also picked up my slow cooker last night so am looking forward to trying out some of the yummy recipes on here!

My OH is converting slowly as well, I’ve got him religiously switching off the plugs! He did make me laugh last night though, he was making a cup of tea for us both and put a tea bag in each mug. I ran over and took one out, telling him that one will be enough for both and he just looked at me with this defeated look and said “honey, surely I work hard enough to have my own teabag?!” – and then laughed! I let him have the first dunk anyway! :rotfl:

Thanks girls and guys, we are just starting out in our first home together and are getting married next year so the more money we can save the better! :j

    :hello: morning all!

Got to go to dentist presently so not really looking forward to that  It will be a filling in a back tooth, oh joy. Part of the tooth broke off when i was eating some rice which had been in the oven and got a bit dry and hard! There was a very old filling in there, which stayed put, so at least it didn't hurt.

Had JO's beef and ale stew (from MOF) last night - it was very tasty so will def be making that again! I put a bottle of stout in it.

P_P - Well done to your DD, bless her heart! As ladymay said, one can feel the pride coming off the computer:) , and rightly so! Hope your hospital visit is not too gruelling.

    Noah'sPennilessMummy - happy birthday! :bdaycake:

tiredmum - Hope you are ok and not getting too weary having to run around taking the children to places! Won't it be nice when they're old enough to go on their own?

csarina - Had to chuckle at the pic of your living room floor. Not long now though!

Peyton - How long do you cook the pot roast in the SC? It sounds lovely, but my SC instruction book (it's an actual Crock-pot) says potatoes and veg should be "sliced thinly", so although I've made stew in there with the veg diced quite small, I haven't tried it with big chunks of potatoes and carrots, which are of course much nicer!

elona - That soup sounds nice!

moggins - Good luck with the interview.

Anyone heard from catowen or Shez lately? I hope they are ok and just busy.

    Good morning!

Happy birthday Noah's Penniless Mum! Hope you have a great day xx

Moggins - good luck, hope you find a fab new job xx

Nessie - enjoy your trip, hope you have a calm crossing

Squiggly - hope the day goes well and some of the sensible views you have are taken on board, all well and good spending 80% of your time in front of a pooter if there are enough people in the field, but not much good otherwise!

Hester - hope Mr H gets the work next week, will keep my finger's crossed for you xx

Kathy - hope you've arrived safely, miss your posts xx

Well today is wet and gloomy, dd1 is home with tummy ache and feeling sick, dd3 is home with a stinking cold! So my plans to go out today with friends are somewhat scuppered!

Was looking forward to it as could do with a bit of distraction and cheering up, consultants news yesterday wasn't great, and more tests are being done to determine the cause now that they know what's wrong! Spent a nice evening at home yesterday though, last day's hol that needed using up before the end of the month, just relaxing with the kids was really calming, it's nice to do the simple things and remember how lucky you are sometimes.

Just had a call from my bil, and the new babe is now being tested for meningitis, so please all keep him in your thoughts and prayers, it's always awful and terribly worrying when such a tiny babe is not well.

Right after all my moaning and gloom, I guess I really should buck up! I'm usually a really happy cheerful person, but sometimes life seems to conspire and chuck everything at you in one go! It's also the anniversary of a close friend dying out in Afghanistan soon, so that doesn't help much! Anyway enough gloom!

OS today I have done very little, feel all wobbly as I haven't eaten properly for a couple of days, think it's the stress and that I might have a cold arriving, still at least should the sun reappear I shall look amazing in my bikini lol!

However I have put the bm on, wm is on, pots are put away (okay the sink still has plates in, I admit it!), and I've tidied my bedroom. Will have to hoover at some point, remind the kids to do their rooms, and s&s the kitchen, shower also needs a good scrub - tiles are turning orange again - assume that it's from the shower gels and shampoos, either that or the dirt in Somerset is very odd!

Hope everyone has a good day, hugs to all in need, Ladymay, glad eveyrthing was okay xx
