Point of note, the guy at the Post Office claimed that the Recorded Delivery insurance doesn't include mobile phones, but Special Delivery does. I don't know if he was just trying to sell the higher rate (I suspect they get commission, given how much the P.O. clerks try to sell top-ups and other stuff when you're just there to post a parcel), but at ~£2.50 normal delivery and £58 worth of phone I decided to plump for the Special anyway.
To answer this, Recorded Delivery has no insurance over and above the normal first class level (which IIRC is £26). Special Delivery is insured for £250 or £2500 depending on which option you choose.

Sent 2 phones special delivery on saturday, received confirmation e mail on Monday saying cheque was in the post. Received cheque on Thursday.
Would recommend Fonebank - very speedy service0 -
Sent 2 phones yesterday and just had the email saying they had received them and the cheque is on its way. So they've been very quick so far and I would definately use them again.0

Regards,
I know this is old but i just wanted to correct the compensation limits.
Recorded covers up to 100 x the cost of a 1st class stamp, so currently £36.
I was just checking this thread as I have a phone to recycle and all sites are showing roughly the same price, I think I will go with fonebank though as they seem quickest.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Didn't the first class stamp price go up to 39p? If so it's now £39 compensation.0

I am getting ready to cash in my N95, but am a little concerned that it will be downgraded to "not working". I had to change the screen about a year ago but it has worked a treat since. The only problem is that I lost one of the 4 screws in the process. Also one of the other screws was over-tightened and caused a small crack in the plastic which is barely visible.
Does anyone know if I am likely to be penalised for this?
Many thanks in advance!!!!!!0 -
I hand delivered my phone to Fonebanks offices on Tuesday late morning.By the afternoon I recieved an email to say that the money would be with me in the next week.
The cheque arrived in the morning post on Wednesday.
How bad can that be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I had a 100 other phones to sell them !!
BRILLIANT:T0 -
I found Fonebank to be excellent. I sent my phone off and within two days had an email to confirm that they had received it. I received a cheque within less than a week for the full amount stated on the website. I was very impressed and will definitely use them again in the future!!0

Registered phone on the 18th, posted it 2 days later, they confirmed they'd got it on the 25th and I got the cheque on the 26th! Quidco tracked too2p off is still 2p off!0

I decided to use Fonebank after seeing some poor reviews for Simply Drop. Fonebank offered me £120 for my Nokia N95 8Gb and Simply Drop offered £25 more.
I have to say that I'm happy with my decision. I sent my phone in on Friday, got a confirmation email on Monday and had recieved the checque for the full amount by Tuesday.
All the way through I got email feedback on what was going on and have even been given a referral code to get money back should anyone I know use their service. Needless to say, even without the cashback incentive I would be recommending them anyway.0
